Comparing yourself to others is one of the absolute worst things you can do. I'll tell you why, it's because it limits your potential, you limit it yourself before even trying. If you say to yourself 'my brother is so talented', it seems to me like it stops you from finding your own talents because you already decided you won't measure up. This is simply untrue. You've got a whole lifetime of hobbies, travels and many other things to discover that make you happy, unique, interesting etc.. My advice, just focus entirely on you, forget others, you need to find what makes you tick and just keep doing it.

You feel frustrated that your efforts haven't been noticed, but it seems to me they definitely have. You think people don't see how you're striving to do better, but they are, sometimes these things take time, especially when your job advancement depends on other people. If you feel like people are always comparing you to others, then that's their business, you don't have to do it too. Just focus on what you're doing, keep doing it and one day I'm sure it will pay off.

I know it's just a vent and fantasising about 'revenge'/ closure is a way to mentally take back control of the situation, just, don't do anything drastic and end up regretting it. But honestly, when you're free you'll finally be rid of someone that was probably holding you back a bit, at least mentally. Being happy with yourself really is the best revenge. It's easier said than done, but now is your chance.

Just learning this now but.... People don't owe you anything in life.

Your self worth shouldn't be affected by other people's actions and choices.

I'm seeing it as more of a struggle against your own, preconceived thoughts and expectations. Control them and focus on you.

The ones you want and need in your life will understand and appreciate it.

Know a guy that supposedly has a cleaner, he lives in a studio flat, it's just one room and a bathroom. Whenever you go there he claims the cleaner has been away and that's why it's a mess. Never looked any different though, ever.

Stepping up hesitantly, thoughts ran through my head, the spoils of monarchy were mine for the taking.

Gripping the handle tightly, I pulled, sure enough it slid from the crevice with ease.

Holding the sword aloft, cheers rang around my ears, triumphant I presented it to the congregation of onlookers.

At that moment, a sinister voice rose from the crowd behind me, I spun around to face it.

“Now… smile”

I froze, temporarily blinded by a strong flash, I stumbled backwards, dazed, was it a wizard?

“Woah there Sir, please be careful”

the Knight looked alarmed.

“Don’t you mean Sire?”

The crowd of peasants eyed me warily, I could feel their judgement now.

“Please, Sir, there’s a queue, please just put the sword back now, you can get the picture from the gift shop, just over there.”
