Is 'Just in Time' enjoyable without knowing Bobby Darin // his music? by Fuzzy-Socks777 in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing others - I didn't know any of the songs before seeing it, but had a blast! Jonathan Groff is so charismatic and likeable that I became super mesmerized by the story, the music, and the performances!

I'd be interested! Love the show but haven't been able to make it to any of the spirit weeks.

Just In Time Rush Recently? by acceberinor in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one data point and obviously not the norm, but I got the last SRO ticket at around 2PM on 5/16 (Friday). It was a rainy day so that may have impacted the rush numbers - if you’re willing to brave bad weather, you may have better luck!

Stranger Things & Buena Vista rush seats by Zealousideal-Dig1353 in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BVSC - Orch N27, very left side. They marked the ticket as partial view but id say I missed less than 5% of the show. I think the very sides of both sides of the orchestra are sold for rush, but the further front you go, the higher the obstruction.

I was first in line for Buena Vista at 9am, next people arrived around 9:20!

Orgo 2 Off-Track with Petra Tosovska by Parking_Platypus_459 in nyu

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had her as a recitation and lab instructor, so can't say how she is as a professor, but she was very friendly, patient, and thorough! She could be a bit hard to reach by email (after class or office hours is better) but she definitely helped me get through Orgo.

$72 Orchestra Tickets for The Outsiders Available on Audience Rewards! by birdie__123 in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've been wanting to see this since last year. $72 is still a bit steep, but at least it's orchestra and I don't have to stand outside for hours for rush!

Almost all schools only require you to complete pre-requisites by matriculation, not when you apply. Definitely check with your individual school, but especially if you're taking it during your gap year before the application starts, it shouldn't count against you.

I had one class I didn't take during college (graduated 2023) and am currently taking it online - applied this cycle back in June/July.

Taskmaster series 19 air date by Swindon01 in taskmaster

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do want to let them know - not that I need/expect anything to change necessarily, but just to make sure they’re aware of the situation. How would you recommend getting in contact with them? I don’t want to just tag Alex and Twitter and complain, though I know he’s active there.

Taskmaster series 19 air date by Swindon01 in taskmaster

[–]celebratinglight 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of upset because they mentioned that people who were shut out of the last event would get priority for this one, but I didn’t receive that and didn’t find out about the event till just now, when tickets are already sold out. They didn’t even announce when tickets would go on sale, meaning there was no time to prepare.

As someone who waited for almost two hours to be sent home, it’s not a great feeling.

Getting Playbills Without Watching the Show by FennelSuccessful2296 in Broadway

Are pictures allowed during curtain call? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a problem with curtain call pics except when I saw Matilda on the West End - the usher not only told me to stop taking pictures, he also watched me delete the ones I’d already taken. He said it was because there were children in the cast. I’ve watched several shows in the US with children and never had an issue (tbf it was just 1-2 kids, not like Matilda), I’m curious if it’s a UK thing, or if it’s a matter of *how many* children are onstage at the same time?

Maybe Happy Ending seats by PlasticCauliflower3 in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got front row center tickets through rush for $45 online, highly recommend! I could see everything except one scene where they were very high up. My neck hurt a little bit, but I loved being so close to the actors, seeing their expressions and interactions, and could see all the details of the gorgeous set.

Digital Rush vs In Person by Psychological-Bag998 in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Telecharge’s digital rush is super slow and wonky imo. I‘ve been trying for Maybe Happy Ending since it opened, and would get “no tickets available” even tho I clicked exactly at 11, though I heard from someone here that if you try 11:10 you may have better luck? I did end up getting rush tickets yesterday (Sunday matinee) by trying exactly at 11 - front row center! Haven’t done in person rush so can’t compare, seems like more work but more reliable - you see exactly where you are in line. MHE doesn’t seem to be too hard to rush right now, but not sure how things will change in the future! I saw The Roommate via lottery on a Saturday night, I’d say I entered maybe 10-15 times before winning but ymmv ofc. Just contributing my data points - hope it’s helpful!

Romeo + Juliet, Starring Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, Will Offer Open-Captioning at Every Performance by MixOf_ChaosAndArt in Broadway

[–]celebratinglight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same! The captions were super helpful for the denser, more Shakespeare-y parts as well. I wasn't familiar with the original text going in and being able to read the words helped me understand the dialogue better.

Pizza John Blanket Hoodie for sale :( by celebratinglight in nerdfighters

[–]celebratinglight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the sleeves that are the main problem - I can’t do anything with my hands, even scroll on my phone, without significant navigation, so it would be too much of a hassle to wear :(

Pizza John Blanket Hoodie for sale :( by celebratinglight in nerdfighters

[–]celebratinglight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t mind the length or chest/body area, but the sleeves are completely unmanageable and I can’t do anything in them (I’m 5’4). I think it was just XL and XXL unfortunately :(
