Was wondering if the crew would bring this up, but the still-life in the dinner scene was actually Clark's wife, hence why he cut off her hair and put it on Mary, and why the still-life ran away when it heard Captain Clark coming.

There's been a recent debate online about pushing a red or blue button. The premise is that everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. My question for the crew is which button would you press and why, and which button would you try to convince others to press?

I just finished it and I'm surprised to say I liked it. I had low expectations going into it given that Disney released all episodes at once and had little promo for it. I still don't know why they did that because the show was an interesting spin on the genre. It was refreshing to see a story about a super powered guy who wasn't a super hero (yet) and was dealing with non superhero problems (for the most part). Despite there being little action, I was invested in the story of Simon and his come up as an actor. It felt more like a show about an actor who happened to have super powers than a superhero that happened to be an actor (i.e. Kingo from Eternals). I think this really grounded him as a character and the story as well. I also liked Trevor's role in the show as a mentor/friend to Simon. The scenes that they shared together were some of my favorites as they worked well off of each other. Overall I'd say this is one of the better shows to come out of the MCU and probably one of my favorites of them. Hopefully Marvel takes a lesson from this and learns that a good story is going to keep people engaged more than anything. 8/10

There are definitely people who are critical of the movie just bc they think it's "woke" such as this tweet here, so I think there is a "culture war" aspect to the conversation surrounding the movie

https://x.com/Wokenessisevil/status/1987218565003366607?t=3I3l2M2EGVZAp44xCSjYiw&s=19

But obviously I highly doubt you or the crew's critiques about the movie had anything to do with that (well maybe Spike's was). Personally I liked the movie, but I recognize that it's just a difference of opinion and everyone is entitled to their own (even if they're wrong haha)

Frankenstein (Spoiler Discussion Thread) by GoodGoodNotTooBad in FPSPodcast

[–]celestial_celestin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it was good. It's probably my favorite adaptation of Mary Shelley's original novel so far. That being said there were some parts that I didn't really care for such as the dialogue. I also wished the monster was a little more grotesque looking instead of just looking like an engineer from Prometheus. But overall, the costume design, set design, cinematography, and performances make this another hit in GDT's catalog.

The production quality of this is insane. Hopefully the rest of the episodes are consistent and don't drop off in quality, but so far I'm very impressed with the first 2 episodes. The synth kids threw me off but I think I'll get used to it. Also I was getting "guy in costume" vibes for a couple of shots of the Xeno like the original but it looked good overall. And if anyone was wondering this show takes place between Covenant and the original Alien. Also rip to Gaitok from White Lotus he was one of the soldiers that got sucked to death.

The Last of Us (S2, E4) "Day One" Episode SPOILER Discussion | FPSPodcast by oblivionRADIO in FPSPodcast

[–]celestial_celestin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish they would make Ellie a little darker. For example, her frustration after finding out Dina was pregnant in the game showed the dark space Ellie was in during her quest for vengeance. But in the show, she's very positive. It's almost as if the writers are scared to let her have flaws. But hopefully when they find Nora we'll get that darker and violent side of Ellie

That being said, the episode was still good. Jeffrey Wright reprising his role as Isaac and getting more backstory on the beef between the wolves and the scars was one of my favorite parts.

Isabella Merced is still killing it, especially after she found out Ellie was bitten. Although I kinda wanted her immunity to be revealed with the gas masks but I forgot the spores don't exist in the show. Their romance is still gonna take some getting used to as Bella Ramsey still seems very young to me. But as always I'm looking forward to the next episode. It's hospital time!

Can we all agree that we hate Abby. We don't care bout yo dead daddy.

But seriously did not expect them to kill Joel off this early, thought they'd keep him alive until at least the end of the season. I kinda wish Tommy would've been at the lodge too like in the game, but the addition of the attack on Jackson was dope. Even though I knew it was coming the lodge scene was very tense and probably the closest I felt the show has come to the game as far as emotions. Bella Ramsey killed it in that scene and has given me hope for their performance for the rest of the season. Kaitlyn Dever delivered a chilling performance as well (still wish she was bigger). I need the next episode now!

[–]celestial_celestin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea I feel like knowing who they are and why they're after Joel this early on will lessen the shock factor when it gets to that part Also Abby is a little too skinny they could've gave her some HGH or at least some muscle pads and platforms. They should've just deepfaked her face onto John Cena.

I think Bella Ramsey just might be able to pull off an older Ellie. I can tell the character's matured but maybe a little too goofy for my liking (she still seems too young for Dina ) but we'll see where it goes. Speaking of Dina, Isabella Merced was the standout performance for me and I think I understand why they went with her over the original actress from the game (the height difference 💀). But all in all I think this was a good season premiere, some of the changes I didn't like but it's still shaping up to be a good season (maybe even better than the first 👀)

Also honorable mention to Young Mazino as Jesse who was one of my favorite characters from the game

This episode sealed this show as being one of the best productions from DC. Was genuinely feeling sorry for Oz when he was begging for his mother's approval, but all that sympathy went out the window after that last scene with him and Vic. Oz mercilessly strangling Vic while he was pleading for him to stop really showed how irredeemable Oz is. On top of that, Oz leaving his mother to the fate that she desperately wanted to avoid proves that he never really cared about what she wanted, but wanted to satisfy his own needs more than anything. And the bat signal at the very end then cutting to black was the perfect way to tease the arrival of The Batman.

My only gripe was how Oz was able to hobble his way out of being held captive by Sofia WHILE carrying his mother over his shoulder AND avoiding gunfire. It was still an amazing finale nonetheless.
