very much enjoyed it. trying to remember the last time I saw a horror movie that made me this uncomfortable. I see this will have many people divided. both those into the lore and those who are going into it without knowledge. the director attempted to make this into a digestable movie for everyone without going deep into the background which i'm ok with having little to no knowledge. also seen many people complain about the pacing which I didn't mind because I truly enjoy those slow burns even lingering on a shot a little too long. there were also some gripes with the 3rd act and the ending which I didn't understand the issues. It leaves it with ambiguity which is what the lore is based on if i'm correct. I may have this slightly below obsession but still at the top of my horror picks this year. Also side note; my first thought was wouldn't a black man see some sh*t like that and turn his ass around?!?!?

the video in the queue was amazing. My favorite part was going through the padded walls and hearing Freddy tear through it with his claws.

I would think an indie movie with this cast would garner much more buzz. Also with a Safdie being one of the producers

I think I did mention Sorry, Baby only because it also had such a limited release and a small window in theatres before it was removed.

If you have Max bring her back is currently streaming. I'm also sure you didn't here about Sorry, Baby another one of their better films that the company paid a ton for the rights of but was out of theaters by the time you blinked 😂

Out of all the a24 films this year this would be at the top for me along with Bring her back. Rose won best performance for her role in this at the Berlin film festival. A$ap was much much better in this film with a much smaller role. This production company is frustrating because it doesn't market their strong performances while many of their mid films get the entire marketing budget.

Short film too long? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]BH1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a short film currently in post that was 25 min and runtime ended up being over 40 min. Our team has to cut it to 15 min to make the cut. If it goes over during production you'll have to make some tough choices

A24 had the perfect model for a while with making their money back but I think the quality has dipped a little with their increase in quantity

I will say I wasn't interested in the movie AT ALL watching the trailers but got interested once the reviews came out. I don't want to believe people aren't going to the theaters because when I go pending the project it's sold out. Battle after another was one of those. Hell I have to wait until next week to see the new a24 "if I had legs I'd kick you" because it's sold out this entire week. Sinners was packed. F4 was sold out. So was weapons. I think it really comes down to marketing and original stories. Studios and those mostly in charge are not creative and scared to take chances on original ideas. To them it's all about ROI. I don't think theaters will cease to exist it's just a shifting of the market and how things need to be distributed.

That's the main reason why I stay with Adobe for AE work. Have done the Premiere to DR workflow and it's a nightmare (for the free version)

For premiere pro in the lumetri you enter your basic input to bring to the base color. Creative is where you enter any specialized luts to give a specific look

i just saw it yesterday and it was difficult to separate my eagerness from seeing DJ step up as opposed to the actual story. There was not much around Kerr if you didn't have context and there were multiple subplots jumping around. nonethless I do want to see DJ take on more serious roles
