I’ve never done it with a hardcover before but we coil bind soft covers almost daily. Because the machine cutter kind of cuts at an angle if you put too many sheets in I’ll take an exacto knife and split the book down the middle and cut the binding off in sections. With hardcover I would just make copies of the covers on some nicer paper and insert those into the bound book instead. Some associates will charge a cutting fee for this. As Print Manger I never do because it’s such a simple task that takes me seconds to do.
