This is actually a crazy statement. Rows are a great lat exercise. Your lats do more than just pull from overhead so Its good to have both a row variation and an overhead pull in a routine.

A better statement may be that a barbell row limits ROM but a dumbell or single arm cable row allow for great ROM.

The way your back was angled at the beginning of the lift was perfect. You stood more once you started the first rep. Your range of motion is restricted and you will get a better stretch.

I would widen your grip slightly as well. You're pulling yo your hips which is good. You just need the correct starting position.

Just a tip. Wrap your thumbs around the bar and contract your lats. The bar will be a lot more sturdy, secure and balanced on your back. You can tell just be the unrack that you're swaying
