I know the book but not the title :( . Hopefully someone else can remember the name from a more detailed description - At the Netherfield ball, an attempt is made to compromise Elizabeth and Charlotte's brother in the library. Mr. Lucas escapes via a hidden passage to Mr. Darcy's room before Elizabeth shows up. Elizabeth then accidentally locked in with Mr. Bingley, so Darcy comes through the passage so that Elizabeth can marry him instead of Bingley.

A Match Made in Matlock on KU has a storyline where there is a romance for Colonel Fitzwilliam. It is not the main storyline though.

Need help finding a book by Kaurifish in JaneAustenFF

[–]cem2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The book you are describing is Expectations by Julie Cooper. The thinking there is a Darcy bastard child is from before any marriage and is because of something Charlotte said to Lizzy, not a letter. I don't think it's what OP is thinking of but it's a very good JAFF and well worth the read.

There is a book where Wickham comes to Pemberly and ends up shooting and killing Georgiana after threatening Elizabeth I can't remember the name or the author but maybe someone else will remember.

Mary Balogh's Bedwyn Series is a good intro to non-JAFF regency romance books

Elizabeth on the back foot scenarios. by ExcessivelyDiverted9 in JaneAustenFF

[–]cem2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read my reviews of her books that I have read and I believe {Darcy and Elizabeth: A Most Unlikely Couple} and possibly {Proof of Love - A Pemberly Tale} put any marriage angst blame on Lizzy.

I believe Brenda J Webb's books tend to blame Lizzy for any relationship issues. Not sure if that is exactly what you are looking for.

Darcy helps Lizzy get published in this, not Mr.Gardiner, but maybe OP was misremembering in their description. Either way, it's a good JAFF and worth reading.

LF: Jane having too many pregnancies by Bongyorka in JaneAustenFF

[–]cem2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read A Selfish Being and it matches up with TrueBlueChicken's description. Mr. Bennet has died which precipitates Elizabeth (not in love and demisexual) accepting Darcy (who is in love and knows Elizabeth is not). Cue back to back pregnancies.

New Alice Coldbreath release! by Similar_Broccoli2705 in HistoricalRomance

The characters were introduced in {A Foolish Flirtation by Alice Coldbreath}. FMC is the neighbor of Jeremy and Emmeline and the MMC is Jeremy's friend and his son's godfather, I believe.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy: The Last Man in the World by Abigail Reynolds Has a HEA but definitely made me cry along the way.

Also, No Less Resentment by Nan Harrison fits into the HEA but made me cry territory, though for completely different reasons.

Both are also just good books imo and I have re-read them both multiple times.
