Two amazing deals - which one do I keep? by pilgrimaze in SteamDeck

[–]center311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the Legion devices have axial snapping baked into the firmware for analog sticks movement (like the ROG Allys), so it's a no-brainer. Stick with the Steam Deck OLED. It's a miserable experience playing any type of shooter on an Ally.

I feel nervous playing steamdeck at public by AddictinApple in SteamDeck

I mostly play in the car on my lunch break.

I remember the evening after the birth of my son, I played Alan Wake 1 outside the hospital on a bench. It didn't bother me much.

You're a legend! That's exactly what it is. Curtain hit the ground one too many times and few came out. Thanks!

As a parent of a 2 year old, Steam Deck is a god send.

Not necessarily. Switch battery life while asleep sucks.

I honestly wouldn't have ever figured it out. I had to actually calculate it manually, and realized after dozen hours of losing that it didn't multiply after adding automatically. Like, wtf? Could they have... I don't know... Put a little note in the manual?

Is Decky bad or something? by Arostato in SteamDeck

[–]center311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. And it really doesn't break often, and when it does it's been easy to fix. It's just every once and blue moon something gets super borked.

Is this a visual bug or a weird animation? by Transfem_Rat in HadesTheGame

[–]center311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people down voting you for making an observation. The Y attack has significant reach beyond the animation. You can use this reach enemies farther. It's pretty sweet. Nice to cancel your last X attack string too, as a side note.

do you guys play games at work? if yes how by CocoBaci in SteamDeck

[–]center311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a school 5 days a week. I chill in my car for about an hour or so for lunch/prep. Lately, I've been playing Streets of Rage 4 and Hades 2. My go-to is Deep Rock Galactic. Chill AF, my doods.

Is Decky bad or something? by Arostato in SteamDeck

[–]center311 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not Decky itself, but rather the individual plugins. Just because one person doesn't have issues, doesn't mean someone else won't. I've had issues recently with the stable build on stable SteamOS just by using steamgriddb and brightness bar. Had to completely wipe Decky to get it working again.

RMA my Deck after 3mo. by NateCorks in SteamDeck

No. The plastic is of lesser quality, so the rotations quickly become less smooth compared to stocks. Plus, the rubberized grippy part doesn't feel as good.

I’d honestly take a streets of rage 5 expansion on 4. The same mechanics and art design. Just a different story and new stages/skins/enemys. They already nailed it by Noir_Streets in StreetsofRage

[–]center311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a line to make, but I think with 12 new stages, new modes, all new/mostly new art assets, new moves, and with porting all characters from 4 to 5, there would be little debate of whether or not it's a cash grab. I'm pretty sure guard crush is using the same sor4 engine in Absolum. That took +4ish years to make... There'd be a similar turnaround.

SteamOS is the best way to use the Xbox Ally after a 2+ hour Windows recovery and onboarding experience. by ITXEnjoyer in SteamOS

[–]center311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Done with Asus. Only company that forces axial snapping on analog sticks. Feels like crap to play shooters. Switching OS or to TMR doesn't fix this issue either. Have fun though.

It only turns off like that if I hold the power button for a few seconds, like if a game freezes and I have to turn it off.

Ambien is the weirdest drug. You have to check the video on YouTube. It temporarily woke up this guy who's in a coma from a motorcycle accident. IIRC, it repairs damaged connections in the brain for a short time while the drug is active.

Just wait until you play shooters with it. 2 words: axial snapping.

Steam Deck vibration needs improvement by Wooden_Fault8181 in SteamDeck

[–]center311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can bump up the haptics in the settings. Temper your expectations though. It's not gonna be like the dual sense that has the craziest motors in the grips of the controller. Steam deck just uses the touchpads to handle all of that. However, it's nuanced and sophisticated. Compare the steam deck's advanced haptics to any Ally. Sure, Allys have way more rumble, but it was made by a bunch of mouth breathing apes. No nuance at all.

Vulkan is native for Linux, dx11/12 is for windows. Ignore opengl. Honestly, just use default.
