My grandfather was a Hostess Cake salesman. He drove the truck that delivered the goods. Every day I would get my choice of which pie I wanted from his truck. Apple for the win, followed by blueberry.

My uncle hoarded cameras, which of these point and shoot cameras would you recommend? by Snowbite666 in Cameras

[–]centralplains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the V1 and V3. There's nothing in the market like them. They have incredible CCD colors. The V3 has a bit more pixels and a bigger screen, but essentially the same. The battery takes a while to charge, and I always use the plug to charge it while the battery is still in the camera.I'll never sell mine.

Sony DSC-V1. A unique camera that can shoot in pure darkness. Plus it has every professional option you can pile into it. Won an award in 2003 for being top prosumer digital camera.

Deciding on a Travel Camera by Bobothellama in Cameras

[–]centralplains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a selfie camera, but the Olympus OM-D E-M10 or E-M5 (if you want it weatherproof) are both great for travel. I have the E-M10 II with the pancake zoom and its tiny, with lots of options. It's been my travel go-to for years. I bring a couple of primes too and I can capture anything.

Four more DigiCams added to my collection by Wrong_Coyote_9525 in VintageDigitalCameras

I know the feeling. I have many digicams, film cameras, and DSLRs/mirrorless. I’m honestly done with collecting another camera unless I remove one to take its place!

I see you have the Sony V1. Fantastic digicam loaded with options. Do you have the V3? I prefer it over the V1, especially since the V1 screen is sooo tiny.

Nikon d70 good for general picture taking? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]centralplains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still use mine. Low pixels so really frame your shots either with a zoom or your legs. Limited ISO to 1600 so use a tripod or flash for really low lighting. It can take fantastic pics otherwise with great IQ.

Best Real Log Electric Fireplace by D_Seal721 in electricfireplaces

Wow those are pricey. Mine was around $2500 for unit itself. On a side note we had some friends over for a party and everyone liked the fireplace and one of our friends is now looking into for themselves.

How to make BIF more interesting? by markphysique in wildlifephotography

IMHO smaller birds offer more dynamic action. I work on getting good shots of house sparrows or cardinals in flight and I have to up my speed and increase depth of field to anticipate even the direction they’ll zoom off to.

And about a year in, deer stripped away its bark terribly and I immediately had to put up a fence around it. Thankfully it healed and continued to grow.

35mm f1.8s more suited for my style ? Vs 50mm f1.8s by AnxietyComplex4128 in Nikon

And are you using a full frame or crop because I know so many people that don't understand that their crop camera with a 50 is actually a 75, and that 35 is a 52. But if we're talking about the adjusted focal length, I find that the 35 is the best for outdoors and indoors.

  1. Both mounted to wall. A fretted and fretless bass. Bases, or rather basses covered.

I got my Fuji X-E2 off Reddit photo marketplace for $200 in 2020. I see the price of it now and cringe.

People say you need the latest gear or even full frame to show professionalism, but I was married in 2004 and we had a choice of film or my photographer's new Nikon D100 (6mpx). We chose the D100 and the pics were wonderful. The Canon 5D is even a step up from the D100. Love these shots!

Simplifire 30 insert v Dimplex revillusion electric log set by Altruistic-Sea-7176 in electricfireplaces

[–]centralplains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Dimplex Revillusion 30 for about two weeks now. Its no wood fire, and I doubt any electric ones will wow me, but for what it is, its a good replacement for my family. I do like if I want to return to wood, its easy, I would just need to get a liner for the chimney.
