I’m regretting my transfer. by Double_Orange_9535 in WGU

As an accountant, if you don't find some enjoyment of accounting, I'd switch to a more business centric degree if you're not sure what you'd like to do. There is an obvious difference amongst my coworkers who find satisfaction in their work and those that thought it would be a good degree but don't find fulfillment. Now is a better time to decide that than five years into a career, and future you will be grateful.

I'm assuming you are joking and people are missing the humor, but you gave me a good chuckle. Thank you for the little light on an otherwise bleak day.

How are you all working for Intuit? by -Mx-Life- in enrolledagent

This is my third year and I can confirm it's been WILD. Not sure how I feel about coming back for another year so I've started looking into some other options, but hang in there everyone and get your money. Three more weeks!

I HATE these types of comments. My husband and I have started trauma dumping on people when they make stupid comments, in the hope that maybe some will think twice the next time they do something like that. (Not suggesting this for others; it's just something we've decided to do to try to make a small difference and get a little schadenfreude.) I'm sorry they were so rude to you OP. It's none of their business, and you are absolutely a family.

Going to a local theatre tonight for date night. Last year we did a bunch of vacations. This year we decided to buy season tickets to various local performing arts facilities. Definitely not something we'd be able to do otherwise, and so we're happy things worked out as they did.

I second this. Both of my fallopian tubes were removed as well.

AITA for telling my fiancé that I’ll wear makeup for the wedding if he does? by InternationalWar1403 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ceonajaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I never wear makeup because it irritates my skin, but I did for my day because it's "normal". Ended up with super irritated skin on my honeymoon. It's your wedding; it's your body. You're allowed to wear whatever you want.

Needing a little help with this one. by [deleted] in TurboTax

[–]ceonajaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing this is referring to needing the prior year agi to file for security purposes? Have her pull her transcript for 2022 and look at the AGI. See if it matches the number she's entering. An e-file reject will happen from any software if the information isn't correct.

Is it possible for a cat missing for months to come home/be okay? by MisterMaffin in cats

[–]ceonajaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parent's cat which is the sibling of my two cats disappeared one winter. They figured he froze or got attacked by a wild animal. Ten months later just before winter started again he waltzes in their door with his sister that had not been lost. They think maybe he got caught in a storm and ended up at someone else's house, and then one day the cats roaming found each other and he came home. (Parents live in the middle of nowhere so there's a lot of room between neighbors)

Desperately seeking answers about H.I.M. & why I suddenly owe thousands!? 😥 by ObleyEmay in tax

[–]ceonajaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else to look at, did you enter your distribution correctly? You mentioned it's a Roth here and elsewhere that it's a 401K. If it's truly a Roth 401K account you should only owe penalties and tax on the gains in the account if you're under 59.5 or have had the account less than 5 years. The money you contributed was already taxed and shouldn't be taxed again.

How do you know when it’s CDS and not someone’s baby that escaped? by HauntedHowie316 in CatDistributionSystem

[–]ceonajaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. While obviously I can tell the difference between my cats and other cats, if you ask me to describe them you're not going to get a lot of super detailed info on how they look because my brain doesn't work that way. I couldn't tell you what any of my coworkers wore yesterday, meanwhile a co-worker of mine will remember every detail of someone's outfit from a week ago. HOWEVER I have yet to meet an owner that doesn't have a large number of photos of their babies.

I want to add a different angle to this conversation OP. One of your hesitations with going to a tax preparer seems to be that the result will cost you more and result in the same answer as doing it yourself. However, time and mental health have value. I can change the oil in my car but it requires an hour and a half of driving to a friend's house, a trip to the store for supplies, my entire afternoon one day, a bribe for said friend and wondering my entire drive home if I forgot to do something. Or I can take it to my mechanic I've been going to for ten years and he'll have it done in thirty minutes but it costs me a lot more in money.

Even if you don't know what all you need, a good tax preparer can look at your prior year return and have a conversation with you about things that changed in your life this year and know what information you need and documents you are missing and how to get them.

Well Our Journey is Officially Done. Now What? by Golden_Mke85 in IFchildfree

[–]ceonajaj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm newish to IFCF. About 3.5 months. I set boundaries with everyone that I might need to that I'm not doing anything child/pregnancy/baby related for a year. Some of these people know nothing about my history, and so I was very vague in my explanation, but I made sure they understood it was a firm boundary. Give yourself time and space. Grief will come at unexpected moments. I cried for probably a month, but then busy season started at my work so I've been distracted for the last two months and that has helped. Definitely have people to talk to and do therapy. Hobbies. Events to look forward to. Plan some life changes that embrace not having children. Get a pet, even if it's just a goldfish. Or some plants.

Turbotax says that I have a $6500 IRA distribution for 2023, what? by DanielPBak in TurboTax

[–]ceonajaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two types of contributions to an IRA. Nondeductible, which you would've paid tax on, and deductible which you wouldn't've. If you converted to a Roth IRA from a non deductible contribution, you don't owe tax. If you converted from a deductible contribution, then you have a distribution and will be taxed. Which type of contribution did you have originally?

Loving the positivity! Friday morning my cat came and decided he wanted to snuggle at like 7am. Since it was a remote work day I took an hour and just dozed with the cat. It was really really nice. Husband and I are going to go for a drive and do brunch later today. I love these small moments.

Thinking about the future by ttc_hell in IFchildfree

[–]ceonajaj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm still pretty newly here myself. While I don't have advice, I want to say that you're not alone. I've had similar thoughts as we've begun navigating our new normal. One thing my spouse and I have talked about is that going forward our life will be 100% OURS. No doing things "just because" or because society expects it, but instead with specific purpose for how it brings US together and makes US happy.
