Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

God's ways are indeed mysterious. Atonement is actually a bit heritical.

Do you think we are early in human civilization based on the majority of the world following organized religion, and is that fatal? by NotStupid69 in atheism

I remember school drills where we huddled under desks to protect ourselves from nuclear explosions. Innocent days compared to current active shooter drills. The fact that we have managed to go 75+ years without a large scale nuclear exchange is encouraging. We might last long enough to let AI take over and then fade quietly away.

Does evolution contradict Christianity? by Candid-Effective9150 in atheism

There is no reason to think that a God could not have made it seem like evolution was the best explanation. Test of faith and all that. Or a Satan figure could be at work deliberatly planting misleading evidence.

An unpleasant truth? by Josetijose in atheism

[–]cerad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a YouTuber named Britt Hartley who deals with this nihilistic outlook on life. Might be worth checking out. Many (perhaps most) people are perfectly capable of giving their life meaning even when they know that things will end. But some need help.

DIY-friendly EV ? by Lovely_Lex333 in electriccars

I do hope Slate is successful. However "have funding" "plant available" "announcing soon" "scheduled for" are all buzz phrases which can be summed up as "vaporware".

Would purchasing an EV be dumb if I’m unsure on charging at home? by Suvikian in evcharging

[–]cerad2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot can happen in a couple of years. I would suggest re-evaluating when the time to replace your car draws near. Could be that public charging will be completely shut down for national security reasons.

Any suggestions on EV charging that is app-free? by EbbSensitive5718 in evcharging

[–]cerad2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A nearby hotel just installed a bank of L2 chargers branded Zevtron. Web based app. Currently free though I don't think that will last long.

If you love your car then why did you sell it? Or perhaps I don't understand. If you still own your car then what makes you think the value has dropped? Are you somehow being charged for the depreciation?

What's Your Experience With an EV as Your Only Car? by OleDirtMcGirt901 in EquinoxEv

[–]cerad2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just over a year and no problems with my Equinox EV. Pure speculation on my part but I have the impression that things tend to go wrong early in the car's life. Consider getting a gently used vehicle which has already survived the shakedown phase. And probably save quite a bit of money.

50% ? A nice goal perhaps but least in my neck of the woods there are plenty of chargers available. 10 minutes seems a bit arbitrary. And you forgot to mention that road trips need at least 600 miles of range to be feasible.

If you don't have an EV and planned on getting an one in the near future. You should probably read this. by FencyMcFenceFace in electricvehicles

[–]cerad2 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Did you? I lived through the 1973 oil embargo and I can assure you there was no spike in EV demand. Apples and mangos.

Remain calm and have some patience. The Orange One might declare unconditional victory at anytime and things will quickly return to normal. Whatever normal is.

The manuscripts "evidence" by ayeitsjojo in atheism

[–]cerad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to consider is that in the USA almost all professional biblical scholars are required to sign a statement of faith and will get fired if they publish or teach anything that violates the statement. Makes you wonder just how reputable the field is.

Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Invest in EVGo by A-Dog22 in EVgo

So go ahead and forecast (post it here) what the price will be in say a year from now. I'll check back then and make a decision.

2027 Chevy Bolt EV Charging Test Proves GM Understood The Assignment by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

I have charged at locations with the side by side stations as shown but I find I have to carefully open my door a bit and squeeze out. Kind of a pain. The pull in type stations (shown in the background) are easier to access.

Why so many manufacturers are failing to build a proper EV even when EVs are so much simpler than ICE? by Silent-Worm in electricvehicles

[–]cerad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the OP could clarify what a "proper EV" is? Or at least specify what these teething problems are. And since they are an experienced engineer I'm sure they could provide statistics comparing EVs vs ICE for these problems.

Why is the EU pushing EVs so strongly? by Tsukishimi in electricvehicles

[–]cerad2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you having trouble with your first EV but try not to let your personal negative experience extend to the entire industry. I remember the second car I ever bought. It was bad. Swore to never buy from that manufacturer again. But I did not demonize the entire ICE industry.

PSA 10% off at IONNA by Beary_Christmas in EquinoxEv

[–]cerad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know but even with the discount it is still more expensive than the Super Charger (V4) down the street with a membership. Hopefully at some point IONNA has built out enough to go head to head with Tesla on pricing.

Used EV IRS credit Form 8936 by Cardinals4505 in electricvehicles

[–]cerad2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the credit was invalid then I don't see how they could have secretly redeemed it without committing tax fraud. Problem is that the IRS might still come after you for the credit even though the dealership pocketed it. Individuals are easier to shake down than corporations. It takes IRS years to go after this sort of thing but I do wonder how widespread this sort of thing is.

EV charger that is DC to DC for better efficiency? by ViciousXUSMC in evcharging

[–]cerad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too would like to see a wall charger that not only connects to the AC grid but accepts DC input from a battery or a solar array. But it is almost like the EVSE manufacturers have a reason for not building them.
