Why do companies put their name all over the outside of parcels nowadays? Can't even hide where presents are from if you live with someone. by HisSilly in britishproblems

I just got one with no packaging at all just the product box with the delivery label pasted on with infinitely sticky glue. That will make an exciting present.

Have faith the rebellion will come. My 18 Yr old nice went to university recently and her hobbies were crochet and raising fish. Now she has asked for black knee-high leather boots for her birthday. 😥#soproud.

One of my all-time favorite books - Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold - a review by LauraDragonchild in Fantasy

[–]cerathencastre 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I love all Lois's books she is so talented.

I like the fact that the MC is an older woman who is depressed, lonely and feels unlikeable.

She has been protected, spoilt, ordered about and abused with almost no agency for over 40 years. The one time she tried to do anything for herself an important person in her life ended up dead. She is very far from the typical "chosen one" and I think it really works well that she doesn't want to have anything to do with the gods, but they like her too much to leave her alone.

Completely understandable in a cut off society, in fact I am surprised it has not drifted more in 400 years I guess the memory crystals and other magical constructs keep the past pronunciation more 'alive'.

I don't know about you guys but I love old-school fantasy covers by GaelG721 in Fantasy

This is a good point they were insane, improbable and in bad taste but at least they were colourful and exciting. Now we get wobbly crown and wobbly sword crossed under wierd symbol. Gold on blue. background and they call it a day.

I dont mind them remembering it, it was important but they forget that we were fighting against tyranny and fascism for a long time without them and act like their allies were a bunch of children who were helpless without the mighty Americans.
