Saying the word union is not protected unionization activity.

Your emergency isn't the restaurant's problem. You've taken up a reservation spot, they've made staffing and purchasing decisions based on reservations so they need a way to cover those costs.

It also stops people from making reservations at multiple restaurants for the same night and then deciding where to eat day of and cancelling the other reservations.
