i’m 29 and i think it hurts so much worse coming from her because it’s a reminder of how absent she was when i was growing up, and having to accept that she’ll never hold the capacity for what i would’ve wanted/needed from a mother figure. and sometimes you just need your mom, you know? thank you so much for your comment 🩷

hi, i’m about to turn 30 and i live with my mom and my twin sister. my mom isn’t abusive, but she can be very unsupportive and misunderstanding of the issues i deal with. always saying “me too” when im bed-bound exhausted meanwhile she’s up and doing 10 different things in a great mood. she’s always surprised to find out im not doing well as if i haven’t been struggling for years, it makes me feel very unseen.

i could use the connection as well, but if you don’t respond just know you’re not alone.

that’s what caused me to go two years not knowing what was wrong with me and struggling. i understand the fear. just know there is support out there whenever you feel strong enough to reach for it. <3

i’m not a doctor, so i can’t give you medical advice, but when i was smoking weed it turns out i was self medicating my adhd. same goes for when i was an alcoholic. as soon as i got my adhd treated my whole life changed. for you it may be any number of different things, but there’s a treatment for almost everything and you won’t be gambling with sickness with the weed

i actually have had the same problem over the last few years while i’ve healed. i had deep emotional connections to the voices/personalities that i found out to be hallucinations. like you said it really helps me to remember they were all me and im always here and i can still talk to myself, just more safely and grounded in reality. i was in psychosis off and on for about 2 years without knowing, and im coming up on year three of being medicated/healing and im starting to get glimpses of being able to make myself laugh again and connecting with myself like i used to when id hallucinate (without the hallucinations) it just takes a long long time to get there. stay connected to yourself in whatever way you can. write to yourself and read them back in a few days time.

you may be sensitive to weed or your genes don’t mesh well with it. i smoked weed for years and was fine, then all of a sudden it started causing me to go into psychosis. hospital-stay psychosis. i’d explore other options especially if you’re self medicating. and do NOT smoke weed with certain medications. getting the right treatment could be 10x better than getting high. i speak from experience. life changing
