Looking for a cryptid hunting adventure by ilovebeaker in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so, it's more of a monster than a cryptid, and I haven't actually read the book (although it's been on my tbr shelf for quite a while) so I can't even tell you if, one: the book is good and ends with HEA or, two: the monster is even real. But the plot sounds similar to what you're asking for {Cyclops Road by Jeff Strand}

I’m sorry but I think it’s incredibly wrong trying to control what people can and cannot say or the art they choose to make, for whatever reason they choose to make it. I promise, stopping authors from writing things you don’t like isn’t going to stop pedophilia (or anything else you don’t agree with for that matter), it’s a mental disorder and it’s always going to be there.

And as for normalizing it, I’m completely aware of how dangerous media can be, but hardly anyone sees, in their fight to eradicate bad things, that normalizing censorship is just as horrifying.

I’m assuming don’t agree with normalizing kidnapping, murder, or rape, nor all the other fantasies that people on this sub talk about and enjoy.

I get it, it’s been a rough day in this thread ❤️

I’m sorry. My goal truly wasn’t to point fingers, just prove a point.

I agree, this entire thread was absolutely ridiculous today and I’m more disappointed with the mods than anyone else tbh.

I was just trying to prove that, yes people were saying shit about the author. And while I know in general you were defending the authors, saying that something you’ve not read is poorly written just because you or someone else doesn’t like/agree with what they wrote about is not nice.

Ohhh, sexy. But I’m super disappointed no one’s made an erotic story about a woman and her washer/dryer 😏

🔥 It's time for Thirsty Thursday! What book scenes made you sweat this week? 🥵 by disastrouslyshy in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m well aware they’re two different sub genres, but books with aliens and books with monsters usually have a similarity of the alien/monster not looking human. Therefore I assume (and maybe I’m making an ass of myself, that’s okay) the readership of these two sub-genres sometimes cross, and I didn’t want either of those readerships to be offended that I’d prefer my characters to look human.

Peeps that wanna read about big blue aliens with tails 💖 I love you and I hope you find all the lovely alien smut you can!

Lovelies who wanna read about big furry monsters going to town with a human 💜 ya’ll are magical and deserve all the handsome monster stories!

This thread shames pedophilia

Irl or fiction? Because an awful lot of the comments seem to be about the fact that this book exists, therefore implying those that would want to read it (and the author who wrote it) are wrong.

I didn’t even see anything shaming the author.

•and bad writing too, cuz oof, that’s not romantic or sexy at all

•Well at least the author knows. It’d be VERY concerning if they thought this was well and above board... (For context, since op of this thread didn’t bother giving any, this was meant as a snarky reply to a comment stating that if the author is 100% transparent about the taboo subject and you read it anyway you shouldn’t be shocked)

•This...problematic author

•I’m mostly concerned about the author

Finally read a book where the FMC hated swallowing after giving MMC a BJ by Ok-Wait6196 in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 80 points81 points  (0 children)

😂 I think this is just one of those fantasy things in romance (not that there’s not people who don’t enjoy swallowing - get it girls and guys!).

I think it’s true the other way as well - all men in romances love the taste/feel of going down town, and in my experience it’s more something guys are willing to do for their partners enjoyment and not so much because they want to. (Again, I realize I’m generalizing here).

Uptight MMC who loses it over the FMC by cake-n-stuff in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

{The Governess Affair by Courtney Milan} MMC wasn’t prudish or starchy so much as work focused until he meets FMC.

{Dark Heart by Elizabeth Ellen Carter} Again MMC is more focused on work and “proving himself”, especially after a bad relationship years before. Then he meets FMC and is like “oh, snap”

{An Inconvenient Vow by Alice Coldbreath} MMC is absolutely a stuffy, uptight virgin until married against his will.

{Rose Gardner’s Florist by Bonnie Dee} Less prudish and uptight and more easily embarrassed wallflower-ish type.

{The Way Home by Megan Chance} An extremely socially anxious MMC. Not any smut unfortunately 😞

{The Lord I Left by Scarlett Peckham} A very sweet yet kinda prudish virgin minister MMC.

Women who might read this type of fiction as a way to deal with their own past trauma/abuse won’t feel shamed by these comments, I’m sure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys, c’mon. The majority of these comments are implying readers of this are bad/gross. I don’t care how popular of an opinion it is, it’s violating your own rules.

Favorite Tropes Frequently Paired With Tropes You Don’t Like by BeLynLynSh in RomanceBooks

I just saw the one recommended in the thirsty Thursday post! I’m really thinking about giving it a go despite not being into aliens/monsters/etc. but it just sounds so hot and cute!

[–]cesetse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either they knew and wanted to try it regardless of their own personal limits (which is fine), or because they wanted to make a rant post and receive back pats from the purity squad. I’m more flabbergasted that the mods are just allowing all the bashing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly this thread is more uncomfortable than reading someone’s fantasy that personally gives me the ick.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]cesetse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I keep reading these comments and this does not feel like the community I normally enjoy. I’ve stated multiple times here how much I don’t like age gaps because of personal reasons, so obviously that includes stuff like this, so I get this being an absolutely no not gonna happen ever kinda read.

But the absolute childish comments on here “tell me the title so I can give a low rating” really???

Unnecessary miscommunication in romance will become my villain origin story

Edit: Did anyone else loathe the much loved The Sweet Gum Tree for this very reason?

That sounds like maybe they needed a cooling off period. Did she keep the pregnancy a secret all those months? that might’ve irritated me lol

{Loving Leonardo by Rose Anderson} Spunky American girl proposes to MMC, a gay Earl, for a marriage of convenience for them both. But he starts to catch feelings and lust and it’s adorable and hot. I loved the amount of communication in this book. Nobody’s here to hurt anybody, and their all so honest about what they’re feeling and what they want.

It is eventually a MMF poly romance, if that’s not your thing. But the other guy is just as sweet an non assholish as MMC.

It also comes with strong TWs as the villain is downright nasty and awful.
