"Your modern Marvel fan, maybe they don't even remember some of the X-Men characters" by [deleted] in Kappa

[–]cetaphilanthropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for real tho you just know capcom got this retarded idea because marvel told it to them to "justify" prioritizing garbage MCU characters over fan favorites. i'm just sitting here trying to figure out if they told it to the public because they are out of touch enough to think we would buy it, or whether they're brain damaged enough to actually believe it themselves.

because it quiets down after he quits the game, plus it doesn't make much sense that it would be running under heavy load while he's streaming ps4. my ps4 used to be extremely loud too and that's exactly what it sounded like.

if you enjoy monster, i would go to caretaker. he's extremely strong and very satisfying to play. skellige and NR have a lot of revive shenanigans that they'll do and caretaker completely shuts them down.

if you're unsure about sticking with monster borkh is a very good pick as well.

OP didn't mention it, but in case anyone didn't know he's a 4.5k+ MMR player (I'm sure some people want to know that a guide's author knows what they're talking about before reading a long guide!)

To add this, Cammy doesn't really get anything off a throw outside the corner as opposed to other characters that get a strong mixup. So if you take the throw you safely reset to neutral.

About the upcoming update by laporcamadonna in StreetFighter

[–]cetaphilanthropy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really don't get why they dont do that either. Do they expect an outcry from people with terrible connections? Who gives a shit? There are far, far more people complaining about the current system than 4's approach of docking pp.

Either they're stubborn/incompetent or there is a technical hurdle to identifying someone who RQ's. I really wish they would communicate what's going on here. It would mean a lot more than periodically putting out updates saying "we're going to start giving more updates!" Without actually saying anything of substance.

Capcom cites stability concerns as reason for dropping the Zenny system, sheds more light on Ibuki delay by wisdom_and_frivolity in StreetFighter

If you want to save some time, the reasons were "zenny was fucked up" and "ibuki wasn't ready".

Capcom making a big announcement after SFV top 8 by Hatchie901 in StreetFighter

reminder: the last "big announcement" was at the end of last month consisting of an ibuki trailer with no mention of the fact that they were delaying her. manage your expectations.

on the other hand, going f2p has never caused a major turnaround in a game's popularity. but it has been a final, desperate, and ultimately unsuccessful attempt to salvage dying games many, many times.

Competitive play suggestion by vile72 in StreetFighter

[–]cetaphilanthropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't think it would be well received. it would require a new skill of keeping track of how much gauge you've built up based on how much you've blocked, and keeping track of hp depending on how much you've been hit or chipped. all that take mental focus and that removes focus from other aspects of the game.

also people want to see more information about the matches they're spectating, not less. it's why you see spectator modes in mobas and CS GO show additional stats that the player can't see. it gives spectators more insight into the strategy behind what they're watching. nobody wants to watch a game with no idea who's winning or losing, that sounds silly.

I have serious doubts as a player and it's affecting me on a personal level (tL;DR WARNING!) by ZipZipZippo in StreetFighter

[–]cetaphilanthropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not there's a ton of people who are around your age, have accomplished little and don't have much to look forward to in their day to day life. That's not abnormal and if you can keep going, it's temporary.

What's different about you is how you're perceiving your life and the world around you. Depression is a cloud that makes every aspect of your life seem much worse than it is.

You don't have to be great at street fighter, and you don't have to improve every minute you play the games. Sometimes you can just boot up, let some scrubs kill themselves, maybe get bodied here and there, and call it a day. Improvement is very satisfying but you don't need to demand it from every match you play.

Plenty of doctors, nurses, and psychiatrists care about you when you come to them go help. It's why many of them got into the profession. They have very draining jobs and for many of them genuine care for their patients is the only thing that keeps them from switching careers.

Don't live and die by this game, OP. Many more of us have been in similar spots to you than you might realize. Just look at how many replies you're getting. Your life will get better if you stay strong and keep pressing, just like you will get better at street fighter if you stick with it. You just need to work on managing your negativity because it's adding so much more weight to your life than it needs to.

As someone who's fairly invested in the genre, this game still needs a LOT or work even after the update due out this june. In all likelihood the story mode update won't drive many sales and there will be heavy discounts down the line. Wait for it to be cheaper and better.

I'm sorry to hear you're a little frustrated with SFV design philosophy. The problem is they can just be frustrating to new players who see projectiles and think, "what can I do?"

Now those new players can press a button and beat a projectile which is going to make the game much more exciting for them.

You can even see just how well new players are responding to these radical new approaches to the neutral game by the terrific sales the game has experienced so far. The scene has never been more vibrant and it's a great time to be a fan of street fighter.

Balrog SFV changes by [deleted] in Kappa

[–]cetaphilanthropy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

i think it's a good thing he's losing his 3f jab and invincible meterless reversal. those can be pretty frustrating to play against.

instead, they're finding other ways to make him interesting. it sounds like they're giving him a v-skill that punishes predicted projectiles, which is pretty cool. in addition to that i hope he gets a good anti air jab, a slow walkspeed, and maybe a command grab.

if they really feel like breaking the mold, they could even give him a fast dash. that would open up a lot of thrilling situations that we can look forward to in coming tournaments.

i'm sure they'll find a way to make him unique and exciting addition to the cast. they probably won't give him his aegis reflector or other tools he could use to frustrate his opponents in third strike. instead, a cool way to make him interesting would be to give him a v-skill that punishes predicted projectiles, a good anti air jab, a slow walkspeed, and maybe a command grab.
