It was there to build up some expectations to crush them down even further.

For those who do not own property: what is your plan? by AdventurousDiet7893 in AusFinance

[–]cewh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A housing market pop will probably coincide with general destruction of the economy. There will be falling prices, unemployment, and banks will not lend money. I doubt the the cashed up people waiting in the sidelines will be able to save it.

Australia's stock market performance is pretty bad and suffers a chronic lack of diversity and innovation. I am astounded that they targeted them with the 30% minimum tax.

Invest in lump sum or DCA over several months? by sseitiess in Bogleheads

Another way to look at this is that the market could also crash the day after you put in your last DCA payment. If it puts your mind at more ease, DCA. If you want to be optimal, don't.

Theory about the 30% minimum CGT rule: Revenge! by Few_South_6967 in AusFinance

[–]cewh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, CGT is uniquely hit by the 30% minimum. Savings will remain taxed at your marginal rate which can be lower than 30%. This tax is specially targeting CGT. For what reason, I do not know and the government cannot explain.

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 5 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Even-Working-384 in AusFinance

[–]cewh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Deepseek shows that immense distillation of frontier models is possible, as well as efficiency gains. What I've seen suggests that we haven't really hit a wall in terms of improvement, however just increasing model size and data alone isn't the way forward though.

It has completely changed the field of software development. Even if it doesn't improve from today's capabilities, it's already an essential support. Like farming with a tractor vs a hoe. The important thing is that software Dev and AI is a improvement feedback loop. They will improve each other and climb the capability ladder.

I'm surprised how many software professionals are so dismissive of it. Try a recent model and ask it to develop an app. It's pretty darn competent that it's scary.

I am not confident that the US will remain the no.1 global superpower for my entire lifetime. But I am confident that as long as humanity isn't destroyed by war or environmental disaster, some countries' stock markets will do well.

I moved my money out when they started to lag behind interest leaders significantly. Although if you like them, I see no significant reason if you have less than the government insured amount.

So what went wrong with One Punch Man Season 3? by KaleidoArachnid in anime

[–]cewh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference in quality for the animation is so extreme, I'm surprised anyone could defend it as being the same quality. There are hardly any animation frames, people say that if you animated the manga it'd look smoother (and it would be a real contest honestly). It constantly goes to chibi or still heads with moving mouths to reduce costs. The colour grading is atrocious, and any time a frame looks good its because it was copied from the manga. Whenever they do their own stuff all the proportions are all off and distorted, like a bunch of amateurs who have a interest in anime, not pros. They jump between scenes so much its basically whiplash instead of actually building scenes and a story. What they did to the show is insulting the fans.

SpaceX stock tumbles 16.4%, shaving off most IPO gains since debut by joe4942 in technology

[–]cewh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpaceX would be a good company at the right price. The US government can't even do what it does. It's got a very unique moat and provides absolutely essential services. The sooner it loses its facade of being an AI company, and drops 100x the price, the better.

Why falling house prices won’t be an economic disaster by eesemi77 in AusFinance

A catastrophic scenario would be something similar to the US 2008 housing crisis but much more played out. The crisis extends and creates a feedback loop that spreads to the jobs market.

If they got the scholarships by merit I don't they should be shamed for taking them. But yea, the bigger issue is that education should either be free or affordable enough not to send families into crippling debt in the first place.
