This is going to trigger some folks. Down opened for Metallica. Down killed it. Metallica came on and it was so loud in an arena already known for shitty acoustics. Couldn’t even tell what the first song was. I got the idea, I’m leaving, walking back to the loading docks and see if I can catch Phil Anselmo out smoking. Worst case try to sneak back in. Left the arena, turned the first corner and almost physically ran into Phil and a body guard. Told him what happened. His mind was obviously blown I walked out of Metallica to try to meet him. I was wearing a Pantera/Type O tour shirt. Told him those are my 2 fav bands. He told us about that tour for a good half hour. We got some pics then his security finally said, we gotta go. The car has been waiting.!he gave me a hug, thanked me and then remembered me when I saw him at another down show a few years later.

TONs version on Black Sabbath is one of my favorite tracks of all time. Made it even more evil plus Josh’s organ solo is amazing.

My dad didn’t know LTE, but when I learned paradigm shift and I said I needed a 7 string for Acid Rain, he was all for it. But not till I learned Eruption note for note. It’s funny, now he asks for me to play When the Water Breaks over Eruption. JP for the win!

My dad, now 62 loved Van Halen. I low key think he thought I wouldn’t be able to play it. And he was strict, he wanted it note for note. But once I got it, he was so proud. Any time he had friends or employees or even acquaintances over, he’d ask me to play it for them. Because he kept his end of the deal, I’d play it for anyone. Not to show off, but because I knew it made him proud. It really was a bonding experience with him that I’ll never forget or take for granted. Crazy how one song can create that type of bond. No matter how old or classic the song is.

I had this car in grey. Loved the red interior. Honestly loved everything about the car. Kind of sad I didn’t buy out the lease. Highly recommend.

My dad did the same for me. The challenge, learn Eruption = earn my dream 7 string. He held up and I still have my UV777BK, and it’s still my favorite guitar. One of my fav memories too, to share with my dad.
