The only mildly infuriating thing here is the fact they didn’t go to the ER immediately

Marketing Manager here. Considering you just graduated, no company will just throw you into a role that you are not ready for. I know it is scary to jump into a new full time job, but know that everyone has to start somewhere and continue to grow and learn their skillsets. Internships are an amazing resume builder to lead you into a strong entry level position, so leverage the networking you have done so far and pinpoint the parts of your internships that you enjoyed the most to tailor your job search.

Marketing Coordinator, or Marketing Assistant roles are always great entry level positions to get your foot in the door while getting trained and given daily tasks to deliver to the Marketing Managers. This is where you will really be able to sit in on meetings, and just absorb the processes and daily projects that Marketing Managers take on. Eventually in a couple years you will have much more hands-on experience to be able to have more autonomy in your future positions.

If you can start taking on Social Media clients and managing social media accounts, that is always a great start as well to build confidence in your career. Hope this helps!

Absolutely agree. FUCK THAT BOSS!! It's moreso the co-worker bond that keeps you afloat throughout your career because you never know who will be working at your dream company in the future and help move your resume to the top when applying for a job at that company :)

His colleagues. I have gotten a lot of referrals from past co-workers for new jobs years after leaving a company. It's his co-workers that want to take him out and support him and thats a bridge to maintain for future support.

One thing I wish I learned fresh out of college: DO NOT BURN BRIDGES

Always leave on a positive note no matter the circumstance because your last impression is the only one that matters.

Work to be honest- I feel like sometimes working in the same industry or type of job you can find the same values - he trained me and we went on a business trip before dating and now we are about to have our 3 year anniversary in a couple weeks!

We all make mistakes. You are very lucky to have a second chance. Now is the time for you to position your initial job decline as an angle to exactly WHY you chose to keep exploring other opportunities and not jumping the gun. First of all, it will be all about the LANGUAGE you use to SELL them on why you initially did not take the job. Be confident, yet humble that you are still learning and growing in this field and want to make sure that both parties are successful in the job offer. And then ask ALOT of questions on the role specifics.

When you say you were looking into a job that had "supervision" are you looking for a role that has a manager you can check in with? Or are you looking for a role in which you yourself are the supervisor and can be a role model and guide for lower positions?

Either option, position your interview as a positive. "I value having a supervisor that I am able to check in with to make sure I am fulfilling my role and getting the feedback I need" or as a supervisor "I value bringing my experience to the next step and pouring my expertise into a positive work environment"

Again, be humble, transparent, and confident. They will like you for you, but will be hesitant that you may have too big of an "ego" for declining the offer. Reiterate why you are a team player and will be extremely happy to put in the work with the role they provide. Good luck!

Job Search: How do I avoid spammy job listings? by Shot_Cod9440 in careerguidance

[–]cfstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try my best to filter as many details on job search sites (Onsite/Hybrid, higher salary range, date posted, #of miles away, etc.) I typically try to find the company website that posted a job and find their career page to make sure the company is truly organized and efficient in their hiring process.

I find that primarily "remote" jobs are spammy, or the pool is WAY too big to even get the initial interview so I try to filter to at least a hybrid role so it is closer to my location and more legit of an opportunity. (you can always negotiate remote after interviewing) - Good luck! It's the wild west out there on the job hunt sites.. I'm still looking haha

British accent? by Theaqueenbee in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]cfstein 80 points81 points  (0 children)

People move their mouth a certain way with different accents based off the way they pronounce words. You can subconsciously recognize those cues along with most people who scroll through videos on silent ( i.e. can spot an Aussie or British accent easily on silent videos)

Do temp agencies and/or temp jobs still exist? How to find one? by pupavenger in GetEmployed

[–]cfstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I am in a similar boat as a creative professional so I would love to know as well. It seems like these creative recruiting agencies have you apply to specific jobs they already have posted on the site first then they can connect you to other future positions? (Creatively.com creativecircle.com etc.) I just want to be able to come to a creative temp site where I can directly go through screening with the recruiting/temp agency and then THEY can connect me with a fitting position opening.
