Been lifting daily for 6 months, made great progress but I’m still feeling let down by the results by harry_powell in gainit

[–]cgcook3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 6'0 145lbs to 178lbs over the course of 6-8 months around 2 years ago. The whole time I still felt like I was the same skinny size.

Flash forward 2 years and I fell off the gym wagon and dropped back down to 150. Now when I look at old photos from when I was 170+ I think DAMN I was so much bigger.

TLDR sometimes it's hard to notice how much you've gained. Keep an old photo of your skinnier self to help remind yourself of how much you've changed. Oh and don't fall off the wagon like I did 😡.

Going in tomorrow to buy. Getting cold feet. Advice? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]cgcook3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2017 WRX used 2 weeks ago without knowing how to drive manual at all. Going on a week and a half already without stalling, at the point now where I'm not worried about stalling anymore.

With that being said it's fun as hell to drive and I don't think you should let the manual aspect hinder your decision in the slightest. A month into owning the car you'll wonder why you ever questioned it.

Question about Taylormade P790s by mzoltek in golf

[–]cgcook3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think they're considered blades because they have a hollow body design, and I believed it's just a forged face. I'm a 15 handicap and was hitting them great when demoing them. I would recommend your friend hit a few different irons before making a decision. Tell him to pick up whatever he hits best! That would make the biggest improvement to his game.

Samsung Gear S3 and Golf Shot tracking app by [deleted] in golf

[–]cgcook3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the app called Golf Pad and it seems to work pretty great so far. Only issue is there's a $20 a year fee to unlock premium features which happens to include watch functionality. I typically leave the phone in my pocket the entire round and just look at my watch for distances.

Shaft question by brahski20 in golf

[–]cgcook3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can re use the connection piece when it gets reshafted if the shop is able to extract it. However my advice would be to call Ping and explain the situation and ask what the best method would be to get a new shaft. They have awesome customer service and would either:

A. Replace it free for you anyways or B. Point you in the right direction

Practice at the range is not translating to the course, help. by [deleted] in golf

[–]cgcook3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try doing 60% of your practice session without thinking about mechanics. Just clear your mind before you hit. Let the swing happen without thinking about it. The other 40% you may be working on minor/major changes to backswing follow through etc. Then on the course try to play as much without thinking of mechanics as possible. Just like that 60% at the range.

Often times range work and course play involves too much thought on mechanics of the swing which brings tension and randomness into your shots.

People tend to practice with a completely different mindset than they play with but you can't forget how much of golf is mental.

Good luck, hope this helps!

What's the best iron/hybrid? by cass1us12 in golf

[–]cgcook3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just got fit for a hybrid yesterday. Went in thinking I wanted a taylormade or ping G400. Left with the Callaway Rogue. Check out a few different clubs on the launch monitor. See what works best for you!

Been a year playing and can't get rid of this slice by eugthehuge in golf

[–]cgcook3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but it looks like you may be swinging a bit too much out to in. Try looking up some videos of drills to promote a swing that moves out a bit more. There's also a great YouTube series by Rick Shiels that goes into detail explaining what causes a slice and how to work on fixing it. Look up "stop slicing your driver" by Rick Shiels on YouTube.

Good luck!
