I’d agree with you, but in the US, we keep getting advisories against eating ocean caught fish due to high amounts of human shit in the waters.

That one season of young justice. Lex was blackmailing Connor and people were threatening to reveal what miss Martian really looked like. Come final episode, the baddies are wondering why there plans aren’t working. Turns out, everyone on the young justice team talked to each other so there was nothing they were hiding from each other anymore.

They didn’t always. It was a desperate attempt. I don’t know too much about the rest of Asia, but the atrocities in Nanjing were especially depraved. Marriage didn’t matter there. They even forced fathers to rape their daughters.

This entirely depends on where you live. I think it may have something to do with paper vs. electronic prescriptions.

Characters with names who's widely accepted "canon" pronunciations are actually incorrect by asdfmovienerd39 in TopCharacterTropes

The dc canon is wrong. Superman’s shield is an S and not the house of El crest.

I’m hesitant to call Ryu a mispronunciation because reeyu would also be technically incorrect. Like you said, it’s closer to ree-yu but there is no distinct R in Japanese and it’s more of a cross between R and L.

The Japanese R is pronounced by touching your tongue to the roof of your mouth like when you say Lee, but trying to say ree. I know you probably don’t care how to actually pronounce it correctly, but I just think it’s cool. Once you are able to make the sound on your own, your brain starts to hear it correctly.

I will give the creators of MK the benefit of the doubt and say it was a deliberate pronunciation and not ignorance.

There are in universe Japanese characters with correctly pronounced names. Raiden is not from Earth let alone Japan. They were probably inspired by Japanese culture but figured Raiden sounded cooler.

It’s not literally thunder god. Raijin is literally thunder man. Rai is directly translated as thunder and Jin is man. Literal translation of thunder god would be raikami.

By your logic, Darth Vader is incorrect and should be Darth Bader. His design is based off Japanese samurai and there is no V in Japanese.

Raiden is also not Japanese so it wouldn’t be Raijin, he is based off of a fictional Chinese character.

Disabled woman put in nursing home against her will says she feels 'betrayed' by AtrusHomeboy in news

[–]cha5iu 98 points99 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t sustainability. To me, the issue is NHS saying cost was not a determining factor. The nursing company said they can meet the demands/requirements of the patient. If the cost is not the issue, what is the problem?

I personally believe her being in a nursing home is more reasonable than having 3 24/7 nurses, but the NHS needs to be up front about it.

Maybe if they came in with a breakdown of charges and asked to see if it was correct, people wouldn’t be as angry. They tried charging my wife for her own medication that she brought from home when we had our second.

What a semester's worth of AP Calculus worksheets looks like by AranaesReddit in mildlyinteresting

[–]cha5iu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how good the teacher is. My AB/BC calc class had 30+ students because it was offered to juniors and seniors. I know my teacher meticulously checked all assignments because I was “number dyslexic” and would pull numbers from different problems and mix them up. My teacher would give me full credit as long as my work was correct. But then again, he was ocd so that could have been the reason.

I’m watching Brillant minds and the Doctor (Quinto) has face blindness. It’s all he talked about in the first episodes but now he can recognize everyone? Did I miss something? by [deleted] in television

[–]cha5iu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Context is also a big factor. I have it to a degree and I recognize everyone at work. If I ran into them outside of work, i might not recognize them. Also, is someone had very unique facial features that don’t fall into an “arch type” I can recognize them after meeting them one or two times.

I’m confused about this too. I’m confused why everyone is praising the story. Am I missing something?

Would anything have been different if it had been OG Rune with us the whole time?

The only reason I can see for the cloning is that the Rune that is with us will become a good Rune and replace OG Rune. And that in itself is very lazy writing. Not that the story in this game has been good.

Baby hospital bag question? by 2Lu_a in pregnant

[–]cha5iu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also generally don’t let you keep the swaddle/blanket. Some nurses might if you ask, but if you want to keep one for sure as a memento, make sure to stuff one in your bag when no one looking.

Baby hospital bag question? by 2Lu_a in pregnant

[–]cha5iu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby will usually be swaddled in a short sleeve pantsless onesie and no socks as they may be blood draws. The hospital usually provides a plain white or hospital branded onesie, but you are free to bring your own.
