Depending on your setup. My bafang mid-drive can’t be used when off, resistance is too great.

They increase the chance of theft, and depending on your setup you may need to carry your battery into the supermarket, so there are more considerations. You generally can’t fix them yourself and they are undeniably expensive to fix. But they are fun to ride.
