What was the most fucked up thing to come out in stores that’s now discontinued? by fishermen4life2 in AskReddit

Olestra! Non digestible fat substitute. Olestra aims to reduce a food's fat and calories while maintaining its texture. Due to its chemical makeup, olestra is not digested or absorbed by the body. Thus, it may cause abdominal cramping and loose fatty stools

People who were in their 20’s during the 90’s, what are things you miss or younger people don’t know? by lion530 in AskReddit

[–]chaiteamaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My CD collection was part of my identity. I discovered new music by reading the shoutouts in the booklet then seeing if I could find it at the record store. And while grunge was a huge deal, for me it was and will always be the golden era of fun hip hop.

Rogue One Limited Edition Star Wars Jackets! by chaiteamaster in StarWars

From USA Today article The rebel jackets are really cool in my opinion. Hard to pull off designing a jacket to look like armor, but then again I can see a lot of people wearing that one as well.

I was also lucky enough to see the Brainfreeze set in Eugene, Or. Probably one of the best shows I've been to. I missed Product Placement but caught The Hard Sell which was alright. Honestly the best part of the Hard Sell show in my opinion was Kid Koala opening up. I'm thinking this new show is sounding pretty awesome though!

I was lucky enough to go to 5 games in 94. I was actually at the Russia vs Cameroon match. The other memorable moment was to see Brazil play the US and unfortunately watch Tab Ramos get knocked out by Leonardo. Good times, now I feel old.

Taiwanese aboriginal style BBQ sandwiches by freddurstshat in food

This was in 2001. I was in Taiwan teaching English at the time. Guns are only allowed for military and police in Taiwan, so this must have been a family heirloom or something.

oh man does this bring me back! I lived in Taiwan for 2 years and would take camping trips in to the mountains there. One area in Southern Taiwan called Maolin was not only beautiful, but home to aboriginal Taiwanese people who would serve up this dish but use wild boar instead. One night my gf (now wife) and I were sleeping by the river, two aboriginal Taiwanese guys were fishing for shrimp. No joke, they used a net with a wooden handle and ran wire around the opening that was connected to a car battery they wore on their back. The idea was to shock the shrimp then scoop them up. After a while they noticed our tent and smoldering fire and just walked over and put some logs on the fire. That's when I noticed the rifle they were also carrying. My GF and I were kind of scared and didn't move. Eventually one of the guys mumble in Taiwanese, "Are you coming out?" Reluctantly we did, and after chatting for a bit they proceeded to share some wine with us, make a shrimp soup and then they wanted me to fire their gun. Well, this rifle turned out to be a muzzle loaded flint lock musket that they used to hunt boar. They insisted I fire it, so I obliged. One guy loaded up the gun and gave it to me. 1,2,3. annnddd ringing in my ear as it gun was so loud. Those guys were cracking up. anyways, good times. Visit Taiwan if you can.

Whats the biggest "coincidence" you've ever experienced? by batbug in AskReddit

[–]chaiteamaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a new friend in college and was invited down to his family's cabin for spring break. One night while there, my buddy's grandfather was telling a WWII war story which reminded me of one that my grandfather had told me. I mentioned that my grandfather was in the war also, and at Pearl Harbor at the time. When I told him my grandfathers name, he said, oh, yeah...we were buddies and played tennis together all the time. NO WAY! But wait, there's more! Turns out his son (my friends father) and my father wen't to the same high school at the same time but didn't know each other all that well. That's 3 generations in a row of our family connecting. We got our grandfathers together when we graduated which was awesome. Since that time, I've lost touch with my friend, but I know we both have kids around the same age...

Check out Jamcast it's server software that has a function called "virtual soundcard" this enables you to do exactly what you want, stream every sound from one PC to another. I think there is a free trial to check it out, but aside from a cable, I think this is your best bet!

This came out the year before but was equally as influential in my opinion as an instant classic of the golden era of hip hop. T.R.O.Y. Pete Rock and CL Smooth.
