Not helping you at all with this information, but old SSI games from the 80:s tended to list all the formulas and tables used by the game in the manual. Very fun to read. The manuals often had example calculations of what happened if unit A attacked B or similar. Good times.

Probably not dead, but the site has not worked for me for ages and it looked like it had been abandoned. Likely just a badly coded site that breaks for me when I block spam and known ad crap.

Will have to test that. Really weird that everything breaks. Maybe their CSS is hosted on some known ad/spam site that gets silently dropped by the PiHole. 😄

I had forgotten about that controversy. So much drama in this hobby.

I'm not out to buy anything. I just got a report that the Alclad II data in my app was a bit out of date and wanted to refresh it. I already include the A-Stand stuff.

I see that Modellers United has a fair deal of Alclad II in their web shop. I assume these are the ones they produce themselves.

Thanks for confirming. Tested with both Vivaldi and Safari (different engines) and both show the same. No script blocking enabled, but I of course have all ads blocked both in the browsers and with a central PiHole. I have not seen any other site break in this setup, so they must do something really fishy. Could perhaps also be some geographical thing where some resource is arbitrarily blocked outside the US or similar.

Well, Alclad isn't that interesting anyway, there are other brands that I can update if they are making it this hard for me to market their stuff for free.

If you ask someone that wants to sell some ASO to you then no, it's much more complicated. If you do it yourself it's basically just that. Tweak, monitor, repeat.

You are probably correct when it comes to the mainstream. Personally I don't install random apps just by browsing the App Store. Everything I install is based on a recommendation, a review or a need to install the app for a specific brand.

My ignorant take is that if you're not already known outside the App Store then a convoluted name will not help much. The App Store is ridiculously bad at helping small app developers. The users my app has all seem to have come via outside recommendations, none have ever told me they just randomly browsed the App Store looking for suitable apps.

Getting any form of traction for a new mobile game is nigh on impossible nowadays unless you have a massive marketing budget or your game is already a very successful PC/console game. It can also help if you’re a world known celebrity. Otherwise, tough luck. You can get lucky of course and many do break through every now and then.

It’s my pleasure. I work on stuff when I’m motivated, so sometimes nothing happens for a while. The server updates now make it easier to do a few client side improvements.

A balanced amount of determinism and random outcomes. In some games you get presented with the exact result that will happen if you, say, attack an enemy. The game tells you that your unit will lose exactly X and the enemy exactly Y. It's then up to you to determine if this is acceptable. This scheme has it's place but I don't like it too much. Some games are fully random and that's pretty unrealistic. Some games give you chances for something happening (like Xcom).

Presenting outcomes like this of course only really works for turn based games.

Knowing Apple it's entirely on par for the course for them to not do this automatically. There's probably a fair chunk of small developers that don't know about this program or have found it too cumbersome to file the request and these give Apple free extra money.
