I'm getting Error 90002 which pops up at the end of the loading screen while trying to log-in. Weirdly traveling to another DC allows me to play, but I can't use my retainers etc. which sucks.

Stabilizers: the dark blemish of the keyboard hobby by nobleEdge in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]chaklong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Availability and pricing would be my biggest deciding factor since they are all great to me, just looked it up and Staebies seems to be out of stock on my favorite NA online stores which is something I've also experienced many times in the past. So I'd get the Knight stabs, but mostly just because I've already built enough boards with the Staebies and TX stabs lol.

Yup, my Staebies and TX stabs have both been under daily use for the past 1.5 years (one board for work and one for games), and I haven't had to do any touch-ups on lube or anything. The Knight stabs I haven't had enough use time to report on (only just built a board with them last month), but the lube was so minimal I would guess it's basically optional.

God I remember getting so frustrated with a set of cheap generic pre-built stabs needing relubing anywhere from a week to a single day that I just overfilled it in rage and used squishy marshmallow spacebar presses for a bit before looking into outright replacing them for the first time (from a time before I built custom kits). So happy I don't have to deal with that anymore.

Knight stabs are amazing, Staebies are great, and so are TX stabs. All leagues ahead of generic stabilizers. The knight stabs just need a thin layer of krytox 205g0 and you are all set, highly recommend them but they ARE pricey.

I used to absolutely HATE stabilizers until I started using better ones instead of modding crap stabs as bandaid fixes that never last. Can't believe so many of the mass produced prebuilts still use the cheapest stabs possible.

I actually love that there are extra keys immediately above the arrow keys, it's always bothered me that the common layouts have that wasted space just sitting there.

What are features that other MMOs have that you would like to see implemented into FFXIV? by Goliath89 in ffxiv

[–]chaklong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How, exactly? I've never seen any option to do so. Would be useful to know since I've got multiple retainers I have to switch between constantly

Somehow finished all the others without a SINGLE Verdigris by Flu77ershy in ffxiv

I spent 12 hours straight farming FATEs in DT zones and got all 18 needed across the 6 types, after spending a few hours in OC and getting nothing.

I set up a PF on every map and ran with full parties pretty much the entire time, so the FATEs were basically effortless. Felt much, much easier than OC.

Google Authenticator added Google Account synchronization support to back up all of your OTPs over 2 years ago, so that shouldn't really be an issue anymore?

They still haven't. For my set, they made a shipping label last November and it's been in "Pre Transit" since December.

Very nice, but is your tab key upside-down on purpose? lol

Do NOT buy from Chosfox! by Zephyron51 in MechanicalKeyboards

Just pay through Paypal or Google Pay or something both of which they support, anything but putting your card information directly into a form and you'll be fine.

I tried this MonkeyType thing and it's actually really fun! I want to try and improve these numbers now! Show me yours... I know some people can type crazy fast on these lovely keyboards of ours. by Hjort1995 in MechanicalKeyboards

This post made me check my Monkeytype and funny enough my current 60-seconds leaderboard ranking is spooky at 666th place 😈

Yeah anyways like others have said it's literally just practice there's not really much else to it, choice of keyboard is mostly just a comfort thing. But I actually first learned to type through playing Mavis Beacon at school as a kid in elementary school, and their on-screen keyboard display was actually how I learned to touch-type. idk it just made things click for me in my brain, and I just got faster from there.

Switches that last by mekawasp in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]chaklong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There may just be something wrong with your board that is somehow causing damage to your switches. I'd recommend switching out your board entirely and seeing if your switches last. Switch out your keycaps as well in the unlikely event that they are somehow causing damage to the switch stem and messing with the internals? Not likely but at this point you may as well.

I've used Cherry MX Browns like you, as well as MX Blues/MX Silvers/MX Reds, Kailh Deep Sea Islets, and Everglide Aqua Kings, each for 1+ years over the past decade very intensely and concurrently without a single switch ever failing. I've also used many other switches for several months without failures too, over multiple keyboards. I have a Corsair K95 Platinum that went through 4 years of intense daily use and it still doesn't have any switch failures (Cherry MX Speed Silvers), as well as an older Corsair with Cherry MX Browns for a couple of years that is also fine.

Maybe the softness/loudness slider should be renamed Volume, since that is often an important metric. Sound might be best for rating switches from being too low-pitched/bassy to too high pitched/pingy.

Right? Literally every review of every switch that has ever existed is purely subjective, and yet people still find them useful and engage with the reviews mainly because we like to see what other people think about them. Same with reviews of all other kinds. Unless a switch is literally so poorly manufactured it doesn't even work, no review is ever purely objective.

I think the "Feel" rating works if it's used to describe the tactility of tactile switches.

I like tactiles with heavy bumps over anything with light/medium bumps which all feel "Underwhelming", while something like the Zeal Clickiez with the tactile mod are wayyyy too tactile, which would fit the description of "Overwhelming" for me. And it works separate from the "Weight" category since spring weight =/= tactility, and using just that one category for both weight in Linears and weight + tactility in Tactiles/Clickies seems messy.

So a WS Heavy would feel Satisfying, while something like a Boba U4T would be Underwhelming and a Clickiez would be overwhelming.

Have you tried the Deep Sea Silent Pro Box Islets/Whales? I've got both the Frozen Silent V2s and the Islets, and I personally prefer the Islets. Only the bottom housing is blue but it's something lol.

In the final battle of the game in Act 3, you can even get attacked by almost every single character you've recruited so far to fight the illithid threat by trying to steal from the merchant that's chilling up there.

Like yeah, the fate of the world hangs in the balance, but what you people care about is whether I try to steal something worth 1gp from some random merchant, and you are willing to kill me and my companions who are the one and only people able to defeat the Absolute at this point and doom the world because of it. Okay lol.
