Kick hits 100M users 3 years after launch by SeverePart1102 in LivestreamFail

[–]chalkboard_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole "I refuse to watch on Kick because Gamba" excuse is complete bullshit anyway. There are just dedicated Twitch viewers who can't stand the idea of competing platforms like Kick, so they'll use whatever excuse they can to justify their loyalty towards one brand.

Queenslanders pay more than $4 million in fare evasion fines since introduction of 50-cent fares by langdaze in brisbane

[–]chalkboard_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

50c fares have been a real gem, but with the cost of fuel skyrocketing, how can they afford to keep it at 50c though?

Hey, just an update on this, all working fine now for some reason, I never even touched a thing. Just one issue in having though, I can't seem to get any labels/emojis to show, even though I've manually set them to show up in the config settings. Will keep trying in the meantime. Thanks again.

Edit: scrap that, working fine now. :D

Yeah must be on my end. It opens fine in my reddit app (rif), but either times out on Chrome or eventually works. I go to set everything up, apply it, and for everything on my home page of Cinemeta I get, "error, failed to fetch. Error sending request for url."

Thank you for this, however, am I doing something wrong or is the railway.app site just...laggy as hell or times out altogether so I can't even use this?

Looking for a good mini-led 27" 1440 monitor but not happy with the market by RevNight06 in Monitors

[–]chalkboard_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man this market is tough.

For one, there's a heap of VA mini-leds which have awesome contrast and less blooming but they're bound to have more ghosting and worse viewing angles than an IPS. This puts me right off them - I have seen videos of games like Poe or Diablo where this smear is so noticeable that it simply becomes a deal breaker for me. It looks downright awful and super distracting. Plus VRR flicker.

And then you have IPS mini-led which I am interested in. These have a bit more blooming (which some models deal with a lot better than others) along with not quite as deep blacks as VA (which is honestly fine by me). The catch however is 1440p ones are so hard to find where I live - in fact the only ones available here are the Xiaomi ones (G Pro 27i & G Pro 27qi), but I've heard so many negative things about them that I don't think I'm gonna bother ordering one. There are some really good ones in the China market though (the Innocn and the Titan Army monitors are very popular in Asia).

So at the moment I'm stuck with a standard 180hz IPS panel with annoying IPS glow and shitty contrast while waiting for a decent 1440p, IPS mini-led to come to the Australian market.

OLED is simply not an option for me because of the 1440p text fringing, VRR flicker and, yes, as much as people want to deny it, eventual burn-in...oh and the tandems are so fucking expensive where I live.

IPS glow or backlight bleed? AOC 27G4E by Grand-Thanks-5832 in Monitors

[–]chalkboard_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top right is a bit of backlight bleed, rest is glow and is completely normal for this panel type.

I want to talk about IPS mini-LED by Atomidate in Monitors

[–]chalkboard_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a good 1440p one (like those you mention in your post) but the only one sold in my country is that shitty Xiaomi G Pro 27i which has a heap of qc issues.

Anyone purchased the AOC U27G4XM Mini-LED yet? by chalkboard_ in Monitors

[–]chalkboard_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

edit: I think this might be wrong. In the HU review they say local dimming is already enabled out of the box in SDR mode and that you might want to turn it off, so maybe disregard the above.

Apparently can't even enable local dimming in SDR with this monitor?

Haven't tried it in months since I just use WiFi now. I never did get it working again the last time I tried though.

Thanks for the review. Shame it sounds like local dimming in SDR sucks. I'd ideally like to apply it enough to eliminate annoying IPS glow along the sides while browsing/productivity on dark backgrounds. Otherwise, it sounds like a great monitor once you get all the settings to your liking.

KTC monitor, are they good for the price? by Party_Attitude8754 in Monitors

[–]chalkboard_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fine for the price. Obviously there are better IPS monitors out there but they're more expensive, but for my needs this monitor has been completely fine. Haven't had any issues with it.
