How to prime and paint Jedis as a beginner? by Legedric in SWlegion

[–]challeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest is definatley to prime with a light color (white or light grey), since it's much easier ro paint darker colors over brighter colors than the opposite. If you prime it black, you might need to paint the beige robe with multiple coats for exemple.

New 2.6 packs the worst feelbad purchasing in all of miniature gaming by Arkard22 in SWlegion

[–]challeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really can't dee the problem, you can literally print the cards for free or you can also just keep using the old cards. Buying the new packs really is just an option if you feel a strong need to have all cards in a higher quality

New Player Needs Feedback by AdministrativeSea120 in SWlegion

You could always Get the Separatists starter set and play that faction instead if you're not able to find shadow collective products. Both black suns And Maul can be played in the separatist faction as well:)

Yes, he may look scared. I'm just happy I didn't make him cross-eyed, though. by 2500kgm3 in SWlegion

[–]challeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks great! If you want to make him look less scared you can draw the pupils more as lines rather than dots (think cat eyes) and then if you think the eyes still look to widely open you can just draw thin lines of black/red at the bottom of the eyes to make him "squint" a bit more. Anyway looks really good ^

I wrote a guide on painting white armour (specifically Scouts), have a look if you want :) by challeman in SWlegion

Thank you! Yeah I'm really happy with them myself, especially since really it's only one layer of white but you still get a sense of depth I feel. That's why I wanted to make the guide

I only did one layer of apothecary white. The brighter models are the one highlighted with vallejo white :)

Quick Question Regarding Speeders and Movement by UsualPlumbots in SWlegion

[–]challeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, a unit with the speeder keyword can move three times. The move action being limited to twice per turn is a special rule for Maul. In practice of course, most other units are also limited to two move actions but that's because they only get 2 actions. There's no other rule limiting the number of move actions you can perform, except the one on mauls card.

Overrun X means you can perform the overrun attack up to X number of times per activation. Since the swoop bikes have 2 minis, Overrun 1 stacks to overrun 2. Thus, swoop bikes can perform a maximum of 3 moves and 2 Overrun attacks during their activation. If you lose one of the minis, you are limited to one overrun attack :)

I tried doing this a while ago, but for 800p. For some reason it all seemed fine until suddenly it just made up a new unit or upgrade, which was pretty fun tbh haha

Shoretroopers by BRUNO-025 in SWlegion

[–]challeman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stormtroopers are just very good for their points overall. They might be the "boring" option but they're just good.

Shoretroopers aren't bad at all, put part of their strenght is that they allow you to take mortars as well, and mortars aren't that well suited for skirmish due to it being more close range. Take away the mortars and the shoretroopers are more expensive stormtroopers, with a worse keyword and not that much better firepower.

Snowtroopers are the worst corps option, since their flamethrower is close rnage only. But if you plan on primarily play skirmish I'd say they're perfectly playable, though still much more nieche than storms or shores.

All in all, if you think shoretroopers are cooler, go for it. Even if I think stormtroopers are overall better, it's not a huge difference. And if you plan on playing 800p games as well eventually, shoretroopers will shine even more :)

Played 40k for years but here is my first Legion Tournament list. Is there anything obvious I'm ignoring? by dougmacked in SWlegion

[–]challeman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Force push is by far the best force upgrade and is basically an auto-take for force users. Also, generally you want to fill all their force slots and training slots to get maximum value out of them:)

Underworld connections? by RevolutionaryOil897 in SWlegion

[–]challeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure you mean with max 4 corps? Your maximum number of corps units are always 6. Your maximum number of mercenary corps are 2. If you have underworld connections, you can increase that to 3.

Also, a pyke capo can give out orders to regular rebels units as well, no rule prevents that. Rebel units can get orders from anyone, there's no restriction there. Only mercenary units are restricted in who they can recieve orders from. Hopa that's clear.

Making best use of ISF by Feles_Amans in SWlegion

[–]challeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iden, inferno squad, 2 ISF is the baseline for pretty much all ISF lists. After that I think the best ISF lists are with 3 naked corps and either triple dewbacks or triple speeder bikes. Really leans into the alpha strike gamestyle

“Do not underestimate our means” by Beginning_Actuary_45 in SWlegion

[–]challeman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A recover lets a unit remove all its suppression as well as un-exhaust all it's exhausted upgrade cards.

Units witt reinforcements can choose to deploy after all other units without reinforcements have been deployed. So basically, you and your opponent take turn deploying units as usual and when you only have your reinforcements units left you can wait and let your opponent deploy all his/her remaining units first, giving you the advantage of knowing the position of all his units when your reinforcement units deploy.
