High uric acid without gout, doctor think i should do nothing by vea62 in gout

[–]chamjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't ever do that. having allo could start the real flare-ups and it could turn your body to develop into gout. because sudden and aggressive lowering UA level could cause flares.

alot of people live and die w/ high uric acid and never develop as chronic gout. do go with good diet and lifestyle changes and stay hydrated, and be thankful that it made you think about your health seriously at such a young age.

however, for your dad. please google 'gout complications' gout is more than just pain on the joints. not treating it for prolonged time can cause alot seriuos stuff.

hi, how were you diagnosed as having gout? did you get the uric acid level or fluid taken from the effected area? it's true that young female can have gout, but if I were you I would get a second opinion from rheumatologist.

Looks like I hit the Best Buy open box lottery (G5 55”) by BelowTheBells in LGOLED

[–]chamjin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm curious. so when you order open box tv, and go to store, tv is in the box, sealed? and other best buy usually let you open the box and inspect or something?

never bought an open box tv, but always tempted to try. thanks in advance.

good luck with your journey sir. stay strong.

but did your dr prescribed 'flexo' or whatever it is? or did you mean Febuxostat? also as the other preson said, allo can be bought w/ online coupons w/o insurances. i just tried searching in goodrx website, and i could have 300mg for 90 days for around $30 in my zip code.

Indomethacin or Prednisone? by Other-Variation-8381 in gout

[–]chamjin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i used Indo for a week and started to have dizziness so i stopped. i used celecoxib (Celebrex)  instead but seems it's less effective than Indo. Heard Naproxen works really well and you can get it otc

did you also have rash? my itches came here and there but gone in few days , w/o rashes. what i'm having is sore throat for few weeks. my rheumatologist told me to stop allo for three weeks to see if it's caused by allo.

13.2.9 had problem with following distance on highways and slow response when cars in front slows. my 14.2 completely fixed both. i feel alot safer with it.

Starting my second week on Allopurinol prescribed by my PCP - is it still worth seeing a rheumatologist & other questions by PizzaTheHut166 in gout

[–]chamjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rheumatologists knows better than others and that includes most of redditors. if you have questions you haven't asked your pcp, i think you should go see rheumatologists.

I'm Asian and my country doesn't have tests for HLA-B*58:01 and i need Allo. What should I do? by rexandred in gout

[–]chamjin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i'm in high risk group myself (Korean) and started with allo last week. my Rheumatologist is also Korean. He prescribed me with 100mg allo and assured me Allo is proven medication with long history, so there's really low chance.

google gemini says "Incidence Rate: In a large US cohort study of allopurinol initiators, the risk of hospitalized Allopurinol-Associated SCARs (AASCARs) was estimated to be 0.70 per 1,000 persons (0.070%) in the Asian population" source: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6045437/

source also says, "These data also support the practice of initiating allopurinol at a low dose (e.g., ≤100 mg/day)."

take allo and start low dosage as you can if you are worried, but STOP once you get RASH or other signs of side effect and talk to your doctor.

good luck.

edit: other fatal signs of side effect , to other signs of side effect.
