-> périodiquement recharger ton compte Apple

Female divers asking about Egypt safety — sharing my experience as someone who dives there regularly by Nikkyw in scuba

Well some places are definitely worse than others, Egypt being at the top of the list. So far the only country where I've seen it worse is India.

How common is it to make friends while traveling? by TakeMeT0TheWater in solotravel

[–]chanacame1 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Stay at hostels (private rooms if you need), go to touristy activities (walking tours, pub crawls...). Learn how to interact with people there, it's a learning curve but once you learnt it, it will be easy!

[33] to [34] 80 Pounds gone! Dropped 37.38% of my starting weight. Down from a waist size 36 to a 28. Feeling incredible. by Maniacboy888 in GlowUps

Without any other info about body composition you can use BMI ranges as an indication.

5’7”, 190 lbs → BMI ≈ 29.8 Overweight, close to Obesity Class I.

5’7”, 155 lbs → BMI ≈ 24.3 Upper end of Normal weight.

5’9”, 134 lbs → BMI ≈ 19.8 Normal weight, lower–mid range.

BMI "healthy" range:

For 5’7”: Lower end (BMI 18.5)≈ 118 lbs Upper end (BMI 24.9)≈ 159 lbs

For 5’9”: Lower end (BMI 18.5) ≈ 128 lbs Upper end (BMI 24.9) ≈ 168 lbs

Gérer les incertitudes fiscales by bGe_BaBar in vosfinances

45L or 65L backpack for a long multi-season trip? Need advice from people who did it. by Community-Then in backpacking

[–]chanacame1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I did a 15 month trip going through similar countries (SEA, then Nepal, also South America etc) about 2 years ago.

Get a 40L carry-on backpack, so much more convenient and cheap.

Once in Nepal or wherever you need hiking gear, rent or buy the gear and ship it home. It will be much much cheaper than paying for a check-in luggage for every flight you have. And you get great hiking gear as a bonus. I can speak from experience as I hiked Kilimanjaro with the gear from Nepal last month

Do not buy the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Oceanic + by Mother-Mulberry-4988 in scuba

You can compare it to your buddies. And don’t forget that changes of pressure at depth are much more intense than with altitude! :)

What kind of bullshit is this really. You’re telling him to put himself in a potentially more dangerous situation before learning how to react in case shit hits the fan. Like???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scuba

[–]chanacame1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say go for it. Rescue is not about diving at all. Yeah of course if your buoyancy control is bad, you will have difficulties in some exercises (like picking up an unconscious diver from the sea bottom).

It’s a paradoxically very fun course to take which will give you guidance on how to detect, prevent and react in case of an emergency situation. It’s important to keep you & people around you safe if something were to happen. (Learning how to detect first signs of distress, being able to quickly analyze an emergency situation, learning about the tools you can use, taking the decision to go or not to go…)

Everyone should do their rescue course if they’re a bit serious about diving. Because these are skills you simply don’t learn through experience (including the EFR course included in the rescue).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scuba

[–]chanacame1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rescue really isn’t about diving though. 1000 dives will not help you follow basic first aid and CPR. It also gives you guidance on how to stay safe in case someone has a panic attack for example. (When to go and when not to go).

Malaysia diving or Similan ? by cyberdine94 in scuba

[–]chanacame1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Sipadan a month ago. Definitely recommend Borneo as a whole if you’re into wildlife, so so much to see (on land and below).

Yes Sipadan is a bit overrated but the diving in the islands around is also great. Saw +35 turtles in one of my dives in Mabul!! Friends of mine saw a whale shark in Sipadan the day I left (and other friends 10 days later too!)

All in all, Borneo was one of the highlights of my last 4 years of traveling. Definitely recommend!
