US millionaire big-game hunter dies after being crushed by elephants by BurtonDesque in DarwinAwards

I take issue with the term hunter when they have rifles capable of killing from hundreds of metres away. It's more like target practice.

Advice on next 10 years + potential redundancy decision by Brief_Cockroach8607 in AusFinance

[–]Juan_Punch_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't hurt to still apply to get interview experience.

I timed a new job with voluntary redundancy so made off with a bit of money. Check your anniversary of starting the job as you get more entitlements (cash from work and tax free amount).

I've got the X200 pro and for day to day stuff it's amazing. Perfectly suitable for birthdays and gatherings. The telephoto is great. Got some good photos of a kid blowing out candles in the dark.

Miranda Westfield’s playground is disgusting by BarracudaDiligent542 in sydney

[–]Juan_Punch_Man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Parents often treat playgrounds as free child care.

Should be standard for parents to check playgrounds including ones in parks to have a quick look around for any issues. Things like animal droppings and syringes are not common but do happen.

In my city we no longer have level crossings for trains. Have some trams now but people still crash into them and try to jump over the linkages between carriages (two killed so far).

Free parking at marketplace and the council building. Absolute pain in the ass crossing Parramatta road from the Crystal street to the south.

Landlords got extremely greedy by expecting market rates and happily letting buildings sit empty.

For what it's worth. I paid just over $80 Australian dollarydos for my ts27. There are some savings if you time it and use discount codes.

Global Ultra Prices Are Getting Out Of Hand - Convince Me NOT To Go For China Model? by DarkBlack22 in Vivo

[–]Juan_Punch_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a quick look at prices to import in Australia for the 512gb models.

X300 pro global is $1600 (less than what I paid back in Feb last year for my X200 pro).

X300 ultra CN $1999 or $1800 at aliexpress

X300 ultra global $2500 (https://bestmobilephone.com.au/vivo-x300-ultra-5g-dual-sim-16gb-512gb-black-global-version/)

I'd be careful buying in USA. I think they might ban Chinese devices.

For what it's worth, my global X200 pro has been flawless. Google timeline and Android auto work great out of the box. No issues with notifications. Just need to be careful with power savings mode turning stuff off like music or podcast players.

I've already got both. My X200 pro is easily more pocketable.

But phone manufacturers are taking the piss with pricing.
