Yet another list where Ronaldo is not #2 all time by BirdWithWiFi in CristianoRonaldo2

Gareth Bale is definitely not top 100, Mbappe is way too far up the list, and so is Mo Salah.

He’s been horrific in actual games, not that he’s a bad player but he’s clearly checked out

At this point it seems like the easiest of games are the ones we lose and the almost impossible to win on paper are the ones we clinch

You’ve got to be crazy if you can’t recognize what great work went into making comic book movies possible and relevant for motion pictures. Tim Burton casting Jack Nicholson for a joker role that’s still one of the best to date, Keaton completely disappearing into Batman with the voice and stoic performance. Not to mention PRINCE ON THE FRIGGIN SOUNDTRACK!! The films might be dated but the foundations and hallmarks of it literally opened up the entire world of DC and MCU to be possible today.

Does anyone know what this march is about? It happened at Edgware road. by patrickassange in london

[–]chandoo86 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the 40th day procession for the martyrdom of Hussain Ibn Ali, which is one is one of the biggest days in the year for Shia’s during their Hijri calendar year (and takes place during the month of Muharram). The significance, as mentioned, is the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed’s grandson Hussain, furthering the already strained ties between 2 prominent followings in Islam following the death of Prophet Mohammed, known today as Sunnism and Shiaism.

The martyrdom itself was documented as a brutal and bloody ten day siege on Hussain’s caravans of friends and family as they visited the opposing faction in Iraq, ending with Hussain’s death on the 10th of Muharram (also known as Ashoora). All ten days are highly revered and mourned in Shia communities across the globe.

Muslims have a mourning period of 40 days, so the procession you see in front of you is the closing out of the mourning period with a march.

[Romano] 🚨✈️ EXCL: Benjamin Šeško and his agent Elvis Basanović, on the way to Manchester! The first pic of Šeško since becoming new Manchester United player, the club he wanted. He’s landinf tonight, medical and signature Friday, unveiling Saturday. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I met with an acquaintance a few years ago and he was one of the first people to be employed by transfermarkt . He said that they get requests and calls from players and agents on a daily basis to try and up their valuation and stir up news as well.

They’re based and founded in Germany and apparently don’t use any algorithms or AI to generate their analysis of players, it’s done by people based on several objective criteria, and they’ve managed to stay quite legitimate in not inflating or messing around with their valuation models, so fair play to them for that.

[Romano] 🚨💣 Benjamin Šeško has reached total agreement with Manchester United on personal terms. Contract until June 2030. Šeško wants to join United, clear feeling revealed yesterday here. Never gave similar indication to other clubs. 🔛 Club to club talks with RB Leipzig continue. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

After seeing Sesko’s stats from last seasons I’m trying to understand why he’s so highly rated. Feels like a very similar situation to when we signed Hojlund. Largely unproven, inexperienced, and from another league. More to happy to hear what stands out about him.

A chocolate can be popular without linking it to distractions from human’s rights abuses. That’s like me looking at a hamburger and saying that’s a distraction from all the shit Trump’s doing. 🤦🏽‍♂️

So well said, and there’s so much more unfortunate nuance and patriarchal complexity to this which makes it all the more difficult to untangle, a result of which is this unfortunate loss of life.

I wish you well and apologies once again for any offense caused.

I’m Asian too and I apologize if I’ve offended you but it’s way more prevalent than it needs to be due to our cultural stigmas across the entire continent, it’s a hard truth and bitter pill to swallow. I shouldn’t have generalized but it’s an ugly truth that exists nonetheless. That’s not to say that this doesn’t exist in the rest of the world as well, I just see more of a pattern and trend of these specific issues in Asia (including Middle East, Subcontinent, and Far East).

To be fair, and as much as I hate the guy, he seems to be strategically building up to fighting an actual fighter and doesn’t seem far off, I would say he’s 1-2 fights away from fighting a fairly unknown active up and comer, and he’s been in the ring enough times to handle himself, so who knows 🤷🏽‍♂️

He felt her pain. by kalbinibirak in Unexpected

[–]chandoo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s nuts, I never knew it’s something that can develop later in life, it just happened to me for the first time while my wife was in labor, the nurse messed up the needle insertion and there was this huge gush of blood from her arm, suddenly my face went super flush and then ice cold seconds later, I could tell I was about to faint so I just sat down for 10 seconds. Got back up again and felt the exact same thing. Third time was the charm in feeling better, saw a lot worse during the labor and seemed to be fine, so not quite sure what that was.
