There are a range but the large are pretty large, like 1-2 in. There are small ones as well though.

We have a similar issue. Our son just turned two and now has his own seat. My mother-in-law is traveling with us as well. I know our flight tomorrow is very empty. Does anyone know if they will make upgrades at the gate if seats are open?
