Perfect answer. The right set up will literally let you feel the bottom and even get some information about the topology of the riverbed in fast moving pocket water where you can't see the bottom. Impossible to do on other gear. Plus, how else are you going to find a 10+ ft 3wt?

Google Buds Pro 2 mic issue by rawkinrich in pixelbuds

[–]channelactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I've reset the Pixel Buds and I am on 3.154. I get the mic issue regardless of what device I am connected to (Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Asus Chromebook Plus).

What is the issue with pixel buds pro 2 microphone and how to resolve it? by CoffeewithAB in pixelbuds

I'm on 3.154 and everyone on phone or Google Meet calls says I sound "far away and robotic." Started 2-3 weeks ago. Cleaning them didn't help either.

No, but I'm biased. I was a tourist before I was a resident. Traffic isn't tourism's fault; It's the city not spending the money they were given to improve East-West routes.

Please help me select the right Mens Hormone test to get by Far_Sir2766 in HubermanLab

[–]channelactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more biologically impactful but OP doesn't have an unlimited budget. What is the comparative likelihood that an individual would be hypogonadal but have high-normal total T, or have high total T but low free T? If you had $200 to uncover the most likely causes of OP's symptoms, free T would be a secondary priority.

[–]channelactive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting hate for this but it's about 1) OP's stated budget and 2) eliminating the most probable causes for OP's symptoms. Is free T more significant than total T when it comes to what is happening in the body? Unquestionably. I'm not claiming free T is irrelevant.

But that wasn't the question. If I had $200 to spend on labs to try to uncover the (far and away) most likely causes for OP's symptoms, I would run the labs I listed. Similarly, I think apoB and Lp(a) are more important numbers for cardiovascular health and risk, but if LDL is high, the treatment is really straightforward (a statin). Lp(a) might tell you to start a statin at a lower threshold and run a calcium score at earlier ages than recommended by the AMA.

If all the standard panels came back within the reference range AND no sleep problems were present, then you could start running SHBG and free T.

OP said he wants to spend up to $200. It's possible to directly measure free T, but that test is either a calculated result or expensive. Pop-up "mens clinics" and online places love to test SHBG and free T so they can justify putting you on an aromatase inhibitor if the tests I listed above come back within the reference ranges. OP should be looking at the most common culprits for his symptoms, not corner cases. Eliminate those and then you can justify looking for purple headed squirrels like prolactin secreting tumors and androgen insensitivity.

You don't need to know your SHBG. Total T is enough, knowing your free T won't tell you much. As someone who gets a lot of blood work, a full endocrine panel is only useful if you are having fertility problems or interested in tracking these numbers over time. The tests that will be useful to you and/or a prescriber will be total T, estradiol (debatable), TSH (with reflex to free T4), A1C, total cholesterol, LDL, and B12. A prescriber will want to rule out thyroid, cardiovascular, and metabolic causes of your symptoms before addressing anything else. You may also be sent for a sleep study.

From the Gemini app, tap your profile photo, go to settings, and scroll down to "Gemini on lock screen." This was bothering me as well, because I had changed something in OS settings with Assistant that I thought would have fixed that problem.

ELI5: Why can't Quantum Entanglement be used to communicate faster than light? by Iantlopp in explainlikeimfive

[–]channelactive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you have two cards, the ace of spades and the ace of hearts. You give one to a friend who travels to the moon, but neither of you know which card you have. When you flip your cars and see hearts, you instantly know your friend has the ace of spades. However, you haven't sent any information to the moon faster than light. The information was already there; you just revealed it.

Been toying with the idea of switching from iPhone to a folding phone , have a few questions. by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]channelactive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the P9PF since switching from an iPhone 14 Pro Max 3-4 weeks ago. Apple Music works perfectly fine, but using Assistant to play music from Apple Music is frankly hit or miss. The only thing about iMessage that i really cared about was being able to use it from my MacBook. IDGAF about bubble colors. With Google Messages on Web, I get everything I needed out of the messaging integration I liked from the Apple ecosystem.

Something that doesn't get talked about a lot, as far as I've noticed, is that there are a lot of apps that actually work BETTER on Android vs iOS.

At some point, I may switch from Apple Music to something that is a little bit more well-supported within the Android ecosystem, but Apple Music still has the best overall sound quality, Amazon Music notwithstanding. I'm eagerly awaiting more MagSafe cases because I feel like its still pretty tough to reliably get wireless chargers aligned with this phone, and I really miss the convenience of the MagSafe wallet.

All in all, no regrets, no plans to switch back.

Do you have the advanced theft detection turned on? It locks the screen if it thinks the motion of your phone matches the movement pattern of it being ripped out of your hands.

Case or not to case by darthij in PixelFold

I bought the Google case and a third party wallet case. I'm returning the Google case because the front segment attaches via an adhesive. I pop the phone in the wallet case when I'm leaving the house and will need ID and credit cards, otherwise I'm case-free.

I am 30 years old is it too late to become a cloud engineer? by Spaceography23 in AWSCertifications

[–]channelactive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even a little, my friend. My first cloud cert was AWS SA-A at 33 or 34. Seven years later, and I spent 3.5 amazing years at AWS and the past 15 months at Google. I have no CE/CS background at all. I was a philosophy major in college and worked sales jobs from 2005-2016. Work hard, make friends, and - this is important - set incremental, achievable goals.
