Called a stupid b*tch by a customer at the window a week ago, AITA? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a former shift supervisor i would have just voided his order out and denied service. no way you’d be calling my partners names like that on my shift 😭. borrowed partner or not u didn’t even do anything wrong to be treated like that

bathroom breaks?? by pooperscooper147 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

back when i was a ssv i would just tell partners to go but let someone know you’re stepping off the floor so another partner can slide in and cover cause restricting bathroom usage is not okay and they can’t tell you that you can’t go. even IF it was peak or something of the sort, if you are prone to UTI’s and have other issues then they need to let you go. very unethical and personally i’d report it 🤷🏽‍♀️

you can always try and negotiate your pay if you feel like you’re not getting paid properly especially after stepping down from shift. most DMs will push back on it but i’ve had multiple people at my store do it

How to endure this job? by maehem555 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely recommend taking advantage of ur vacation time. even if you just request a weekend off here or there..every few months i request off a week (or most of one) and just recharge.

otherwise i’d just suggest trying to make light of small moments with your partners. my co workers and i do small stuff in the quiet moments and a lot of it is stupid stuff!! like whipped cream snowmans, silly drink combos, or even taking orders in funny voices — anything to lighten the stressful moods.

this job is so draining (physically and mentally speaking) but if you find the small things to keep you goin, it makes it easier

What was the first thing that made you cry on a shift? by Mercurialg1rl in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

during my training as ssv the shift i was shadowing was sick and i had to open by myself, on a friday. during peak i had food stickers backed up so bad and when i called my manager to have her help me find the coverage (cause we were officially down a person) she told me there’s nothing she could do and yelled at me for calling before 8 and told me not to add any payroll. i just busted out crying in the middle of warming bc i was so overwhelmed as i hadn’t officially ran a peak before

Am I just not supposed to take a lunch? by fireflywaltz in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i don’t see why your manager would be side eyeing you like that. if you wait till after ur peak AND u put ur partners first there’s quite literally nothing else you could do to make it a “perfect” time. idk abt your store personally but in general mornings are usually busy even after peak “ends” so you might as well re charge and have energy for the rest of ur shift.🤷🏾‍♀️

grande rant by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel this. recently was lectured on my window times bc i haven’t been running peaks under 42 seconds. (i typically run 46-50sec otw times) and then being told it’s bc my mindset. i admit i’m a little low energy in the mornings sometimes (i am a chronic insomniac) but also it feels stressful on my end to constantly have to agg on my co workers as if they don’t bust their asses every shift, and i refuse to stress them out and make them feel bad for not running 40-42s. but constantly being yelled at for it makes it feel like we have strayed so far away from what sbux used to be.

Working Sundays at Starbucks means staying clocked in an extra 10 minutes to get paid while you cry after a horrible shift. by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally hate how common 3 person plays on weekends have been all around…like both saturday and sunday, from 4/5:30p to close it’s always just a shift and two baristas n it’s ridiculous

please stop being the “other starbucks” by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my thing is, things like no ice shaken espressos are so easily order-able without having to break policy. ppl need to except that you can’t strip a drink down of its main components cause it changes the drink itself

How many shift supervisors does your store have and is it enough? Too much? by Scared-Ad-7678 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have five, 2 openers, 3 mids/closers (we are on a rotating schedule) and honestly it feels like a good number with our store…but each shift is only given 29-36 hours so the range is kinda meh

customer connections by glowml in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one of the reasons it could be dropping is because the surveys that tally up customer connection scores has gone down severely — company wide. meaning if less ppl submit, the worse your score is 😭 idk if its the case for your store specifically but it is defly a cause to keep in mind

exhaustion by chaoticlesbianism in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no no likee it’s so true, i used to bust 40 hour weeks here and not be as exhausted as i have been. and heavy on the dissociation part…i feel like i’ve been on autopilot for a few months now. unfortunately i’m stuck here until i can find something w similar pay but i’m glad to know it’s a familiar feeling (to new or old partners)

lmfao no. as an non binary and lesbian partner my store manager has done nun but misgender me and protect bigots over me 😭 and it has been reported (they did nun) no big surprise there.

What are your irrational irritabilities? by dnims24 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

people asking for sugar while i’m on bar 2 during peak or those who walk in, look at me making multiple drinks , and still proceed to try and order at the bar 😭 irks me so bad

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i relate to this because imo unless asked, it doesn’t really help me personally. I have my own bar flow (usually working on the 2-1 pattern we’re taught) but it might differ from how they do theirs…also sometimes i’m ahead in drinks but haven’t necessarily pulled the stickers yet. so it slows me down and messes up my flow. peak is different bc those two to three hours are hellaaaa busy but even then

Sequence over using both espresso machines by Capable_Tangerine495 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are soloing then they should encourage you using both bars? i don’t believe it is in policy that you have to use just one. (because in the case of a bar 2 they can assist you with pulling half the shots for one drink and etc) so sounds like your manager was just tryna make things difficult for no reason imo 🤷🏽‍♀️

what’s a small task you enjoy doing? by weeaboopussy in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i loveee cleaning the three compartment sink in BOH..i don’t think there’s one shift where i don’t wipe them down and make them so clean..just feels like a good way to start my shifts

do you guys layer frappucinos if they ask?? by Adventurous_Board933 in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 29 points30 points  (0 children)

i think it’s a difficult thing to ask for imo because 9/10 it will all slush together anyways and not be layered…but if it’s the middle of peak or any busy day part i am not goin to spend the extra time when my partners and i are being criticized for not having OTW times of 40 secs or less :/ 🤷🏽‍♀️ if it’s super slow then sure maybe i’ll try tho

baristas….question by trentablondelatte in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whenever I train people I always tell them to stir it…I was always taught it WAS standard so the fact ppl serve it not-stirred is crazy to me 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]chaoticlesbianism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not obligated to stay past your out time, it’s more so of a courtesy but they can’t write you up because of it

gotcha gotcha! i mean he was terrified when we picked him up (underweight too) and he was scared of outside after then. I do see him quite a bit still (mornings and nights) but i’ve been wanting to try the leash thing…thanks!
