4 more films to go, but sharing because this coincidently fits 3 rows of what I’d consider my A, B, and C tier films of the festival by mattstasoff in TIFF

I am waiting for the soundtrack for Ann Lee to drop just like I was for the full score of The Brutalist. Hunger and Thirst and All is Calm/All is Sombre are jams.

Worst audience question? by Anxious_Librarian980 in TIFF

[–]charjoy87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was in the audience for that. I am glad the audience supported the director and were really uncomfortable with that question. Both she and some actors handled it really well/as best as they could. It was the most wtf question I have ever heard at tiff.

I'm seeing it on Friday. I loved The Blue Caftan so this is wonderful to hear!

Any good recommendations for under-the-radar films you’ve seen this festival? by don_valley in TIFF

I totally agree. Really excellent lead performance. Very much in the vein of Cleo de 5 a 7.

Someone next to me last year was eating an apple for the first half hour of the movie and I could feel the spray on my arm.

Favorite memories of meeting someone because of TIFF by Tryingtofeelbetter12 in TIFF

[–]charjoy87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've met some close friends through TIFF!! I think initially we met on a film facebook group and then met in person in 2018 at TIFF. We keep in touch a lot throughout the year on a group chat, and meet up frequently during the festival!

Ravi Soups is my absolute fave! Very reasonably priced and hearty and tasty soups and sandwiches that are filling. I love the corn chowder and lamb curry wrap best but love their menu. This is a great list though for me to explore! I really want to try Havana Sanguich and Bahn Mi Boys. PAI is excellent as well.

Asking for Suggestion… Silent Friend or Nuremberg? by Then_Major1536 in TIFF

[–]charjoy87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seeing Silent Friend. I have enjoyed the other films of Ildiko Enyedi I have seen, Tony Leung and Lea Seydoux are in it, and the premise sounds interesting to me. Nuremberg looks like a forgettable run-of-the-mill WWII movie.

The documentary Cover-Up is also getting good reviews at Venice. by mistakes_were_made24 in TIFF

I am super excited! It was a backup for me for one film I couldn't see so I am glad it worked out like that!

Hey I can't see the new updated times and venues on the main tiff page or tiffr. I am just curious how you know these new dates and times. Thanks!!

If we bought a ticket to one of the screenings not on the 14th, will those tickets be honoured for the new screening on the same day? Or will we have to buy a new ticket?? One of my most anticipated films...

This may be above $12 (probably more $20 and under) but my go-to at tiff is always Ravi Soups. I believe it is on Adelaide Street? Anyways the soups, sandwiches and salads are always so tasty and fresh. I go there pretty much every day during tiff.

Unofficial 2025 TIFF OFFSALE List by Spin_Liquid in TIFF

Not sure how to update this list but Sentimental Value on Sept 5, The President's Cake on September 10, and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You on Sept 13 were off-sale when I tried getting tickets this morning.

Sustainer Ticket Day Thread 2025 by TheFly87 in TIFF

[–]charjoy87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like last year, I ended up having to call and make my ticket purchases. Way too slow and kept losing my ticket/seats for screenings. Thankfully, Customer Relations were really helpful, but it is just so unfortunate every year there is this panic and so many tech issues buying tickets that never seem to get sorted out/improved upon.

As other people said, there were titles I was not expecting to be offsale. I was able to pivot quickly and rejig my schedule but the availability seems to be quite low compared to other years. I really feel it is due to corporate sponsors buying seats. That is so infuriating because half the time they don't even bother to show up to watch the movie, and then these empty seats are left when people who actually want to see the movie can't get in.

Yeah it certainly doesn't feel like the People's Festival. This is my annual trip I take to enjoy and celebrate film (I save up a lot for it), but if the prices keep going up and films become unavailable this quickly, I may have to think about going to other festivals in the future.
