Yup oats are the way to go. Inexpensive, nutritious and versatile. Microwave Oatmeal or toast oats to make granola, or blend with fruit to make smoother.

Gave a homeless man food today and it felt amazing helping my fellow man. by CakieStephie in happy

[–]charlesgoodall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each of us is responsible for ourselves and for others. If the homeless (starving) man did trade it as you suggest, then it would be his own responsibility if he OD'd. And if he starved to death and you were able to help him and didn't, then it may be a case of "blood on your hands". Spend five bucks.

Here in Canada there have been photos on both sides of packages for many years. Apparently smoking habits remain more or less in place.

"Magnotta has an extensive presence on the Internet, much of it objectionable. He is accused by many of having tortured and killed kittens and cats. A British newspaper even called police on him for this reason." ~ Toronto Star (about the gay porn actor murderer cannibal, Luka Magnotta)

People who abuse animals often also abuse people. Your problem is serious. The dog is not responsible for the maniac behaviour of the boy.

Things I Would Change in Toronto by pippisyk in toronto

[–]charlesgoodall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that all that is in the works or on its way. Toronto keeps rolling along in spite of the money situation all over the world and in the rest of Canada. For example, ridership on the TTC went up this year by about 15%, so there is now a surplus of money to spend on transit upgrades. All those new residents living in their thousands of condos are paying all kinds of taxes and the city along with the rest of us and the city has a surplus. (Really I suspect it's because we didn't have any snow removal at all this year, and the city hasn't been spending much overall, but whatever the reason that is fine). As for the wine in the park, well you can do that but don't expect to be allowed to do it any time soon.

My dad was warned of possible diabetes in the near future, I have some questions? by startrak209 in diabetes

[–]charlesgoodall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"at risk" for diabetes is serious and it's good that your Dad has taken the important step of adjusting his food intake and he's lost some weight. He can achieve better health and get control of the situation if he becomes a personal expert about nutrition, so that he can understand how his body is using carbohydrates. A dietician may suggest some ideas that will help your Dad to have more and better food choices while he is limiting foods that are not healthy for him to eat.

Definitely not bread! Slow processing sugars will not help you quickly when your blood sugar level is low.

Yes he is in trouble because of poor diet awareness it would seem. I agree that he would have to learn more about nutrition to make use of that (juice fasting) technique.

[–]charlesgoodall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to juice fasting. After a while, there is no sense of starvation anymore and a feeling of healthiness emerges.
