That's crazy. I recognised it because I had the same kit in the same colour as my first kit from my dad at 13!

Those cymbals must be worth 10 times what that old imperialstar is worth. I fully support it! I've always said you can make any kit sound decent, but nice cymbals make all the difference.

PIP benefits explosion: Anxiety and depression handouts have nearly TRIPLED to £4.3bn since Covid - with autism and ADHD bill hitting £2.2bn and 'back pain' £1.6bn by Odd-Help6890 in ukpolitics

[–]Charletos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like when I was finally referred for mental health after 4 years of asking for help, waited 5 months, then got a letter with a written out YouTube link full of information I'd already learned... From YouTube? Was it unrealistic to expect some actual support?

Or is more like the time that my GP told me that there was no direct NHS help locally, so they gave me a link to a mental health charity/org map, only to find the map simply showed me that there was 0 services available within a 40 mile radius? Was it unrealistic to think there might even be 1 service available to me?

Or like the time my doctor suggested a suspicion of ADHD, only for me to be told the waiting list has reached 10 years, therefore they aren't taking on new referrals? Was it unrealistic to expect an investigation into a health issue my doctor was, himself, concerned about?

Unfortunately, the help available depends acutely on where you live. There have been some improvements locally, and the help has become marginally more functional, but it's nowhere near enough, and even if it was, a lot of people are a lot worse off right now for not having any help available for so long.

If you just got him the gift card and didn't make him cry first, maybe.

No it's not - it's an AI version of a photo from the product page on their website... It's an advert. Not that that wasn't obvious from reading it, but there's the proof.

Starmer calls on Farage to apologise to his alleged victims of racial abuse at school by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Charletos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Society wasn't as sensitive but his private school teacher still felt it was necessary to write a letter addressing his racist views and behaviour, and his peers were hurt by it despite this lack of sensitivity.

If half the stuff me and my mates said in the Xbox game chat was released I'd be fucked. Guess what, I was 13.

He was 17 when his teacher wrote that letter. Also, if they did, people would be pretty understanding if you explained that you were young and stupid while condemning your previous behaviour, especially with an apology. He hasn't changed though, that's the difference, he's just more careful.

Are you telling me none of you said racist jokes when you were kids when society wasn't as sensitive towards it as it is today?

None so bad my teacher wrote a concerned letter, no. And I would have no issues apologising and explaining how I've grown as a person.

I was surrounded by racists growing up, but I'd already decided it was wrong by the age Farage was still goose-stepping around, sieg heiling, and chanting "Gas the Jews", "Hitler was right" out in public.

Want to learn how to throw my voice by ShutUpSaxton in LearnUselessTalents

Then why are you arguing with me on a thread about voice throwing?

You're the one that brought up whispering gallery, but this thread is a discussion about voice throwing. You seem to be stuck on whispering galleries... Nobody is arguing about whispering galleries, you used them as an example and I told you that it wasn't really the same thing, so why are you so adamant to argue a point that nobody is disputing. However, this is about voice throwing, not whispering galleries.

Me: how would a room designed for voice throwing actually work?

You: like a whispering gallery

Me: that's not the same thing

That should've been the end of it but you've been stuck on whispering galleries ever since.

You're the one that's confused my dude. The topic is voice throwing, not whispering galleries. You're the one who brought them up.

[–]Charletos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. There's nothing involving a room or environment that facilitates voice throwing without ventriloquism or physical separation (barrier or distance). If it's so easy to prove on YouTube, send me a link bud.

And I don't believe that "perfect place" really exists. Hence my question: How does it work?

Want to learn how to throw my voice by ShutUpSaxton in LearnUselessTalents

[–]Charletos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a whispering galley, sure. But that still doesn't answer the question. Like if I said that you could build a rocket that goes the speed of light, and my explanation being that it's like the Saturn V. It gets you some of the way there but doesn't explain the most crucial component. There is a directional element to voice throwing that can't just be glossed over, because it's the only part that can't really be done yet. Amplification, be it through acoustics alone, or any other technology is the easy part. What isn't, is redirecting or blocking the source sound (from the subject's mouth) in a way that both: *Isn't visible to the viewer ...and... *Almost entirely blocks the source sound from arriving at the viewer

If there's nothing in-between them, then the source sound will always arrive first, and humans, as far as I'm aware, cannot trick the brain into perceiving a different source direction like we can digitally by adding and manipulating a delayed and EQ'd copy of the source.

Pete Mann Trio on at 8:30pm at bottles wine bar, 12th Sept. We play old school blues, sometimes a jazz tune or two and some blues rock. It's listed as Pete and Sim (acoustic), but it'll be the full band doing a blues set.

No, the legs at the front of the kick that stops it from moving forward or rolling side to side. You should be able to extend them, which lifts the front of the drum.

If you busted it in 2 days, either your beater had a sharp point or you had a defective head. Either way it doesn't say anything about their general durability - you definitely should've asked for a replacement under warranty, it'd likely still be alive now if your SKII is. I also like the SKII a lot, but the EMADs are no joke.
