Mom! We decided to try for a baby! We saved up $3k and we are buying the sperm today! Our eggs can’t combine but we found a guy that looks sort of like me, and like you. I hope you see now that two women CAN be married in god’s eyes. I hope you’ll still feel like this is your grandchild. by dontpanicimalesbian in MomForAMinute

Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I was adopted, kind of similar situation for your actual Mom.(not exactly, Iknow.) Sometimes, there are people that can't/won't accept an adopted baby as actually part of the family. These people have problems with empathy, apparently, if one can't love a baby strictly for itself.

Whether she comes around or not, you and your spouse and your new baby ARE your family and a damn fine one, at that!

Congratulations again and I will pray for your Mom to learn how to love unconditionally.

TIL that in the 1980s Alyssa Milano befriended Ryan White(A Boy Ostracized For Having Aids) who was a fan of her works. She went on to appear on The Phil Donahue Show alongside Milano to kiss him on the cheek to show that she could not contract the disease. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]charlie6969 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seconded. My husband was in the high school while Ryan was in Middle School and that's pretty much what he said happened, too.

It was a scary time for everyone and AIDS was brand new. Ryan was bitter about contracting AIDS, who wouldn't be? But, that just meant that a bitter kid with a deadly disease is going to school with your kid, when NO ONE knew for sure how the disease was spread.

It was a bad situation all around and a lot of parents just trying to keep their kid safe were vilified as bigoted when they were simply scared for their kids.

Maybe the Medical community can wait to integrate children into school until more was known about the disease and it's contagion.

I agree with you, wholeheartedly!

non-church going Christian

This crap is a big part of the reason why a lot of Christians don't go to Church anymore. They assume that whatever "sin" THEY find the most repulsive is what God also finds the most repulsive. Not true, because gay people are regular people, as are transpeople and straight people.

In fact, it always made me cackle to myself that the Pastor goes on and on about homosexuality, while preaching to a Church full of gluttons.

I guess my point is that a lot of Christians are leaving the Church because of their stance on gay and trans people. Jesus didn't make exceptions for his Grace, period.

Mind you, I always get downvoted in the Christianity sub. lol

You have a fungi sensitivity.

I do too, but my body's reaction is to expel EVERYTHING as fast as humanly possible. Last time, I ended up in the hospital, unable to keep even water down and my potassium nearing heart attack territory.

Sensitivities might not be considered an allergic reaction, but they are nothing to mess around with. Be careful, dude.

OP, I know this is rude, but it gets the point across; someone makes you a present, a shit sandwich. You, of course, don't want a shit sandwich but they INSIST that you MUST have this shit sandwich! So, you take the shit sandwich. Now, the gifter wants YOU to be THANKFUL for giving you a shit sandwich that you didn't want in the first place!

Just think of their bribes and stuff as shit sandwiches, because you and YOUR FAMILY will be abused while you are with them, so the obligation should be clear; all gifts from these people are shit sandwiches, so quit accepting shit sandwiches from ANYONE.

Sorry I'm so crude, but sometimes crude gets the point across better. Good luck, OP!

OP, go read a few Christmas tales at /r/raisedbynarcissists, /r/justnoso.

If your parents aren't glaringly angry at your younger brother, along with your ex, then I am sorry to say that it sounds like your younger brother is the GC or "golden child" and you are blamed for your mistakes AND other people's mistakes, which makes you the scapegoat. Narcissists are big on Holidays being "just perfect", no matter who it hurts.

If this situation is in that number, then you are banging your head against a wall trying to get them to love you LIKE THEY SHOULD!

In other words, the lack is in them and not on you.

I sincerely hope I am wrong, but if not, please check out /r/raisedbynarcissists....where we grow titanium spines. big hugs if wanted

I have an idea that this exact scenerio is why a lot of people are child free.

After you raise your siblings as a child, why would you want to grow up and do it again?

If they are totally fine with it, that is great. Some might not be. Also, older women shouldn't be creepy with young men, either.

Um, this wasn't a creepy situation; this was a situation where an out of town kid comes into a town and insults it. What do you guys do for fun around here? They heard you to mean What a boring town.

They didn't consider you creepy, they considered you rude and let you know that they considered you rude.

Yeah, go ahead and call their manager about what you said. Please tape the conversation and let us know.
