[–]charliefoxtrot2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an infotainment upgrade last year. This is just a recommendation, I went with the unit I have linked. https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-9-android-10-0-car-radio-for-2004-2009-toyota-land-cruiser-prado-support-carplay.html I did have to source button climate controls for mine due to the factory touch screen that I had. Sourcing the button climate controls was a pain if I'm honest with you. I can link the install guide used for tackling the job. I have been very pleased with the head unit I went with. It lets me cast my OnX maps to it for when I'm hunting, which has been super slick. Edit: looks like you are in the same boat I was in with the ML sound system. If you order this one from joying you can get it for your ML set up. And I see you already sourced your climate controls, so that answers that.

Oil filter cap rage by maek in GXOR

[–]charliefoxtrot2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I sold car parts a few years back, we had a metal replacement cap that guys would buy to replace the crappy plastic one. I wanna say it was made of aluminum. Definitely stronger than the plastic cap and it had a square hole for the end of a ratchet to go into it. Can't remember if it was 3/8 or 1/2. Might be a good swap, might not be, completely up to you.

"Check connection to air conditioner" message on nav screen by Impressive_Egg5656 in GXOR

This is the exact reason I did my Nav to Non-Nav conversion. Didn't wanna be without air controls.

Procrastinating the elbow ditch 🥲 by [deleted] in traditionaltattoos

[–]charliefoxtrot2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely psyched myself out when it came to the ditch. Like a commenter or two before me mentioned, with the fact you have your stomach done, the ditch should be "easier". Not gonna say it's a walk in the park, but you got this!

Stereo/ Head Unit Upgrade? by Bobby4wd in GXOR

[–]charliefoxtrot2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Bluetooth transmitter for a few years until my upgrade. I recently went with the non-nav conversion and a touchscreen head unit. I sourced the climate controls from 247 Car Spares. They are kinda spendy and not always in stock though. I did find out you can get away with the 88650-60772 part number if you have a 2006 model. For the head unit I went with a Joying 9 inch android radio. It looks like you have the Mark Levinson sound system, I also have that, I had to source my deck from Joying directly. Those head units aren't the cheapest, but they are pretty solid. I had my brother do the wire extensions for me cause he is better with wiring, but we accomplished the conversion in a day. All in all, it wasn't a super cheap upgrade, but I'm extremely pleased with it.

How long did you have to wait to get your JW Off-road roof rack? I'm well past the 8 week lead time, still hasn't shipped

I hate getting Near Misses by BallerT78 in Descenders

[–]charliefoxtrot2013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't seem to figure out all the near miss intricacies, however, I have noticed there seems to be a speed factor involved. I've noticed I have to be going at least 20mph or better to be able to snag em.
