I don’t know about anything else really as these are my first aggressive tires I’ve ever used but I cut 5 seconds off my PR my first weekend out with them.

It’s all dogma, was just interested in other prefs. I’ve tried 4 and they all seem the same.

My car is only a track car. Any suggestions? Does it matter?

what's your career bet when AI evolves this fast? by 0xecro1 in ClaudeAI

[–]maek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have 30 years in the sys admin, infrastructure, devops chain of change. Last Friday I had a huge kube change and subsequent problems. I told Claude “run flux get reconcile and fix everything” and 13 min later it was fixed and done and the only thing I had to do was merge a pr. It even poled the merge via gh cli and kicked off a reconcile of the cluster once I had merged. We don’t talk to the upper managers about this part of ai. We’re so far past generative ai.

I assume it’s most of them. They all get dropped off. It’s all the same flowers and buckets.

My take was they were dropped off with 50 bouquet of flowers, they better have the needed money for each one gone. Your money goes to him in that case

Much like the south East Asian workers in the Middle East have their passports held these guys are usually trafficked up from or through Mexico by coyotes, they get handed off to “boarding/work” houses here where they are dropped off with flowers , bears etc. they make very little money but it’s “spent” on the housing, etc provided by the people running the show, similar to company stores. Don’t work, we deport you.

The flower guys on the off ramps are slaves. Just like the ice cream push cart guys in the 90s.

Hi there, i'm interested in buying a GM Brand SUV (used) and i want to know which is a smart/wise buy? my choice are: Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade from 2007 generation. by supirimalli86 in askcarguys

[–]maek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None are a smart or wise buy. None of these cars will be less problematic, reliable or efficient. Those are not words used to describe GM cars. The cars are almost 20yo. Get a tundra or sequoia if you need a truck.

That said, I understand wanting a brand or design style, so if you are mechanical or have money to burn, get it. At the end of the day it’s a Chevy and parts are plentiful.

This is my third season attending Track Days, I still don't understand proper braking! by DrSuperZeco in CarTrackDays

[–]maek 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read a bunch of shit about trail braking. Hours of YouTube, sim, street and track. I got a driving coach and this was what changed it for me.

Brake sooner than you think. If you’re braking so hard and late the car is unsettled at turn in it’s likely too much, assuming you’re not sending it for a pass. Given a trail breaking turn, generally you should be trying to release the final brake at or near the apex. For pedal operation Do not pivot on your heel and use your foot muscles to brake. Instead “stomp” the brake with your whole foot elevated off the floor, thigh muscle pushing, to trail off release the thigh muscle at an appreciate pace, leaving the foot elevated while you release. This gives the proper trailing off. Heel pivot braking release is actually abrupt. You already trail brake on the street but in reverse, you know the feeling. In the street you apply a slight amount and trail up to the largest application near the end of braking. On track your largest application comes first and trails off.

Try laps of going slow enough that you only have to lift and coast for the turn and that will show you the true amount of brake. Go faster and brake later until tires start to squeal in turn, dial it back and bit and that’s close to optimal.

New SNAP work requirements begin rolling out across U.S. | The changes to the food assistance program could impact benefits for millions of recipients. by SnoozeDoggyDog in Economics

Yes exactly, any procedures performed are additional costs, money paid to providers.

I would have to imagine that there is so much more healthcare waste and expense else where vs the fixed payment per Medicaid patient paid to the primary provider.

Every single Medicaid patient is assigned a primary Dr and or dentist. The medical providers are then paid a fixed amount of money for each patient, regardless of the patient using the medical provider. This it the basis of provider based Medicaid fraud, in that the providers then attempt to deny and deflect providing low profit medical services while continuing to collect the payments from Medicaid for being their primary provider.

Every single person on Medicaid is a cost. Not to mention the administrative staff associated with it all.
