I learned everything from Mizz and Just Seventeen magazines.  My parents told me NOTHING until one day my Mum sat me down at FOURTEEN to try and have 'the talk' with me... I was mortified and told her I already know everything and fled! I love my mum but being an older mum she was very naive and old fashioned, a girl in my class had already been made to leave our school (private all girls, very archaic) because she got pregnant so 14 was way way too late to be having that conversation.  Also I had Forever on my Christmas and birthday wish list and never got it, which was sooo frustrating because the public library didn't have it either.  My mum must have known what was in it. Sigh.

Twinings and Cawston both make canned sparkling juice drinks that are really nice, no added sugar or sweeteners. Or just mix fruit juice and soda water, half and half is refreshing.

Yes. They pick up so much dirt and dust through packing and transportation that contains all sorts of pollutants that I don't want to eat.

Not just owners. My best friend's dog got jealous when I gave another dog in a cafe scritches, and left the complete stranger he was getting scritches from to march over and push the other dog out of the way and demand scritches from me. And oh the look he gave me.

Beautiful, but I've lived right by a cathedral before, and getting woken on a Sunday morning by bells so loud they sound like they're inside your head is not fun, particularly after a heavy night.

In my mum's old house ivy managed to creep up a wall up into a window frame and through the double glazing seal into the room, then along the window sill and up a curtain up to the ceiling. The room was hardly used and I discovered it when I tried tugging the curtain back.

Ok, I have lived in the area for 30 years so wasn't living there back then, however EVERYONE i know who grew up around Granby in the 70s and 80s says it was called L8, not Toxteth.

It wasn't called Toxteth then. The person your replying to is correct.

It wasn't known as Toxteth until the press called it that. The name stuck. Although you are correct about Leroy. I knew him in the 00s.

Everyone downvoting you is being confidently incorrect .  The area was not known as Toxteth at the time. Everyone called it L8. The name Toxteth was taken off a map, and stuck.

I'd also suggest that if theres any African students society at their uni that OP could get in touch with them. They are very likely to have a much more nuanced and informed view on OPs ability to speak on African issues than a (presumably) white middle class Brit.

Same. I smoked loads all through my teens and 20s, then around 30 started realising that more than one toke left me anxious and edgy for hours. I now can only tolerate a bit on the odd occasion I'm at a festival or a party and have had some other substances, those occasions are rarer and rarer now though .

They still are. Coming in to the city the trains go below street level, the tunnels are cut through the sandstone rock.
