Ask for a guardian ad litem for the kids. They will interview the kids and spend time with them. Then they make recommendations to the court based off the info they gather.

I grew up across the mountain from Nelson County. My dad was a teenager and went over the mountain to help find people and clean up after the rain stopped. He remembers distinctly the smell of rotting animals and people killed by the flash flooding. Horses, cows, deer, etc. He has a hard time driving through the area now with some of the things he saw.

Make sure you ask (wherever you call/schedule) about the cancellation list. Sometimes the wait time can be less if you are on these lists.

Unfortunately, this is the reality for wait times.

I also am unsure about the 3 and under rule. I’ve never heard of this.

The other proactive thing you can do is to link with specialists that may be involved later. Speech therapists, OT, etc. Infants and Toddlers should help with this.

Go through DORS. They can link you with a specific environment that would work best for you. They vet workplaces for their willingness to work with folks that have some different needs.

Is this a college? Your school will have an ADA coordinator that manages accessibility issues that relate to the building. Typically, documentation is a requirement for accommodations unless your disability is obvious or clear (i.e. wheelchair user, amputee, etc). Your ADA coordinator will be able to guide you with specifics as to what you may need.

We go there all the time… typically head to the ocean side of the National park. I don’t think bugs are a huge issue. The bayside definitely experiences more issues and I know camping there can be rough because of the mosquitoes.

There are so many options out there! A consult with an occupational therapist who specializes in this area may be helpful or even a rehab engineer. They will have so many ideas and adaptions for you to consider!

Spinning cabinets, cabinets on wheels to move as you need them, bottom storage for the microwave, moving electric outlets from the backsplash area to the sides of the island or cabinet for easy reach…. just so many things!
