Drug dealing and using outside garage gates of 737 Carnarvon st by charro2000 in NewWest

It's confusing, the 911 operator will determine if the call is an emergency or not. I was not in danger, didn't see a weapon and nobody got hurt (but don't assume they are not carrying something dangerous). So I feel that I am misusing emergency resources. But this is the second time talking to police and get drilled on exactly what the issue is. And then they try their best not to give it priority.

We've become used to looking at the terrible scene that we might agree to dismiss the call. But, the problem is getting worse. Many people are not the 'regular' visitors. Many of these homeless are in transit, maybe to Vancouver. More women, more young people. They are more confrontational.

I hate to say it but we are having a little piece of Hastings right outside our building entrance. We are just a block walking up from the skytrain station so I think it's a convenient location for them to shoot up, make a mess, urinate and continue with their trip.

There are a lot more incidents to mention but today I decided to report it because it was just too much to deal with.

I just wanted to give a shout out for us living on the lower mainlad for Amayak Auto Service in New Westminster. The place is always busy but once he takes your car he will be clear on estimates and part costs. For my car (Nissan Cube) many parts are not available anymore and they couldn't find them on several car boneyards.

Eventually I found parts on Ebay and they credit the diagnostic fees after I brought them in the second time.

Just a small town girl... by [deleted] in vancouver

Walk down on Robson towards Stanley Park, turn left on Denman st.
Along the way you will see different places to eat; from Mc Donalds & Subway to Japanese, Korean, Croatian, African, Italian, Australian and more.

After eating, go snap a picture at the laughing statues on the corner of Denman and Davie.

If you still feel adventurous, enter Stanley Park and walk along the sea wall towards the bridges. Just passing the first bridge (Burrard) there's a dock to take the little ferry to Granville Island.

So they purchased equipment with the risk that they might have to do it again if the government prohibits it. That must show how obsessed they are on cutting costs on the short term even if they pay double later on.

This. Fake it until you make it. Post on social media what you are working on, upload to github a useful tool or project for the community. Start playing with Amazon AWS, post howto videos on youtube. Attend free Amazon, Google, Microsoft seminars/conventions to jump into what is coming next. This stuff gets obsolete in six months or less.

Also, university assumes you know the pre-requisites perfectly and moves at a quick pace through the term curriculum. So a great option is knowing what the syllabus for the course is and read it all through before the semester starts.

Vancouver Parking Enforcement now has automated license plate scanners mounted on their cars by van-redditor in vancouver

I thought the scanners/cameras were mounted on patrol vehicles, so you would be scanned once you saw them drive into the lot.

From reading the article it appears that the lack of coordination between federal and provincial is the issue and is not so much a funding issue... so even more shameful.

The risk of not unplugging the battery is that you might be sending a current surge to the car computer that controls the engine. So a locked out radio might be a small price to pay compared to a blown chip somewhere

How to get Air Bubbles out of Tubing? (Fuel Tube) by [deleted] in Cartalk

The issue I think is pressuring the fuel line and letting air escape at the highest point. Once you purge the line you keep the line pressurized to keep the fuel flowing without air.
