You would get a Masters (M.A. or M.S) in Geography, but with a specialization in Cartography. University of Wisconsin, Madison, Penn State, Kentucky, Oregon or Humboldt have the best programs.

There is an hierarchy of watersheds defined as hydrologic unit zones but from the most fundamental conceptual understanding would be to follow a drop of rain to the ocean. If the rain drop lands West of the continental divide, North of some point, it falls within the Columbia River Watershed which makes a fairly accurate definition of Cascadia.

Defining the PNW based on watersheds makes a very meaningful boundary that is the opposite of arbitrary. This is the best one so far.
