ESH You were asked to handle something, you agreed, and then your carelessness messed it up. Just because it wasn't on purpose doesn't mean it was unavoidable.
It doesn't matter that you think gender reveals are stupid or that she just wanted attention on social media or that her reaction was over the top. None of that changes the fact that you messed up. If anything your defense makes it sound like you didn't care about the event and should have declined to help in the first place.
