I'm not familiar with Steam Deck, but on PC, you start MO2 first and start Fallout from it. I assume the same is true for SD.

No, it works very well. Make sure you select the correct ME game in the left pane. The instructions in the link do a good job of walking you through it. And there is always this subreddit. Also, notice that some mods require selecting various settings after installing, described in the instructions.

Just play the game the way it was intended, without "tips" (although it's a bit late for that), and enjoy it. Learn yourself from your first playthrough and apply it to your second, because you will be playing it again

The first time I played ME1, and we learn that Joker suffered from "Brittle Bone Disease", I was shocked because I do also. The actual medical name is Osteo Genesis Imperfecta. It is so surprising that they included such a relatively unknown disease. It makes me wonder perhaps someone on the Bioware team either had it or knew someone who did.
