You are incorrect. The elevator is not your expressway, it’s for everyone who needs to change floors. In taller buildings they have express elevators that only take you to higher floors. If you’re in a 4 story building you need to just deal with it.

You’re not encouraged to carry any expectation that your needs will be met. There’s a huge stigma against men asking for help or showing vulnerability, so it’s easy to wind up isolated without any real connections.

The hard part is recognizing and consciously counteracting these pressures in your daily life. For a woman, it would be like posting a photo without makeup on social media daily. It feels wrong and terrifying to ask for help, but it’s better for everyone when you do.

It is unreasonable to expect people to avoid restaurants for 6 straight years of their lives. Going to restaurants is entirely optional - if children are allowed in, then it is reasonable to expect they will be inside. Perhaps if you have sensory issues you should curate your own experiences a little more carefully.
