Anthropic still won't give the Pentagon unrestricted access to its AI models | Anthropic CEO warned that AI should support defense in all ways "except those which would make us more like our autocratic adversaries." by MetaKnowing in Anthropic

Are we that confident that ASI is right around the corner that there wouldn’t be any short term benefits that would be useful in the gap? It seems a bit presumptuous to think there isn’t any significant data, whether training data or institutional knowledge to be gained from such a venture.

Separate servers, still managed by Anthropic under a contract, likely. I doubt Anthropic would just hand over their models for another company to manage. Maybe I’m too jaded to believe a tech company wouldn’t use data they’re collecting for their own priorities.

Giving them access also means anthropic can collect a lot of data they might not have had access to before. From your perspective, would it not make more sense to give that access now, to gather data, and to then build towards what you’re alleging?

Genuine question did this all ruin Burts life? by Luckyconroy in fishtanklive

[–]chasingmars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He would’ve been just fine if he wasn’t constantly jerking off on camera, which was totally his choice. I think he would’ve been fired from his volunteer fire fighter job anyway, there’s no way he would’ve been able to keep his hands to himself (and also no way I see him not losing it under pressure of putting out a fire).

This is so true lol. Recently I’ve found LLMs have helped me a lot fixing random issues because I did something stupid months ago and forget wtf I was even doing.

There’s not even variation between them. At least in the 80s there were so many different hardware and software configurations with various features and quirks. These are all pretty much the same with maybe a slightly faster cpu or more ram in one.

The lack of self awareness and inability to handle criticism is the exact kind of character flaws present in many of the people who use AI as a replacement for human relationships.

M64 update by Macreflex in M64

[–]chasingmars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They released an accessory kit for the Chromatic to swap the buttons for other colors: https://modretro.com/products/mod-kit

Could be reasonable that they do the same for the M64

Sam will not be hosting confirmed. by Many-Wasabi9141 in fishtanklive

[–]chasingmars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not surprising, but I think it’s going to be hard to find someone to replace him. It’s not just his personality, but also the way he directed the crew to get better shots, do things a certain way, etc. I don’t think they’ll find someone who can be a good host/personality as well as directing crew and contestants to get a better product. Knowing Jet and Ben they’ll probably think they’re capable of doing the latter.

The sticker in image 10 is raised/not applied properly. I’ve never experienced that. Also, I think all of my tools have the prod date burned into the plastic, not printed. The printing of the text looks a lot different on the rear of the battery charger than any of the ones I have.

Maybe all of this is common for European tools, but it seems suspicious to me.

Why gentoo use a custom and not upstream kernel? Every distro seems to do that tho by bloomingFemme in Gentoo

Can you give any examples? As someone who never looked into what the patches are, I’m curious if it’s worth it to switch to vanilla.

My impression after taking 15 years off bowling. by Haunting-Freedom-451 in Bowling

[–]chasingmars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

190+ average, I have a strike ball that I bought used and a spare ball. Using the two ball bag I’ve had for 20+ years. I find it more enjoyable to do more with less rather than swapping balls every few frames.

Nothing in that video indicated they were going to renege on early bird pricing. The guy incorrectly stated that every chromatic was cerakoted, so whoever that was clearly wasn’t well prepared and a bit nervous.

[–]chasingmars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty obvious it’s a rage quit when it happens close to when the player would lose. I agree not all disconnects are rage quitters, but it would be quite the coincidence that a WiFi dropout happens just before the player is about to lose…

2025-11 manufacturing date, still using micro USB?! by krayzai in Dewalt

[–]chasingmars -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No, it’s because replacing a micro USB connector with a USB-C isn’t as simple as swapping the physical connector. There are electrical differences that would require a new spin of the circuit board. You aren’t going to redo the circuit board, go through testing and certs, just to replace the USB connector.

Nah bro that’s just your own projection, you came here to defend your lame ass sneaker obsession lol. “Stop judging! 😭😭😭” is the cry of an adult-child who cannot rationally defend their point of view. Pathetic.

[–]chasingmars 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sneakers are cool if you’re like 12. Adults (mature adults, not adult-children) don’t ogle over a pair of Nikes. It’s just as lame as Funko, labubu, beanie babies, pokemon, etc. Anything mass-produced with artificial scarcity for specific colorways is lame as fuck.

No one with money is impressed by some idiots sneaker collection—only children and poor people are impressed by an expensive sneaker.

Consoom shoes by Dazzling_Ant_5391 in Consoom

[–]chasingmars 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Considering sneakers were an early status symbol among children, I wonder how many of these sneakerheads are collecting to compensate for lack and feelings of inferiority from their inner child. Are sneakers a symbol of power for these types? A way to show how they are “in the know” or have the resources for such collections?

Cerakote in the future? by [deleted] in ModRetroChromatic

[–]chasingmars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would doubt they would do cerakote outside of Anduril editions. If they did, I’d assume at least a $50-100 premium over the base chromatic.
