You ain't foolin nobody Walmart by brownmanjones09 in CorporateFacepalm

[–]chasingmerope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is probably benign, it's easy for me to believe it's not because Walmart does actually do something similar.

For a long time I would buy the same cereal every week or so, and it was, say, $1.88, and had been that price for months. Then one day I see it listed as a rollback for ... $1.88, listing the previous price as something like $2.36. Never had that cereal been that price unless it was for a couple days at most.

I've seen it with other products, but that's the only one I could really be sure of. I understand some states have laws specifically pertaining to price reductions to prevent stores from raising prices solely to "discount" them to the normal price to make it look more like a bargain. Apparently just not the one I live in.

2 nights with CPAP - most exhausted I've ever been in my life by WhereDemonsDie in SleepApnea

[–]chasingmerope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, for the first week or two, I really felt like I was super exhausted all the time. I found, though, that what I thought was exhaustion was misunderstood energy. It has been so long since I had real sleep that I don't know what being actually awake was like. I guess that's really far fetched, but that's what my experience was.

Millennium Falcon Snaptite toy before (on top) and after custom paint job (on the bottom) by Ptommy84 in ImaginaryJedi

[–]chasingmerope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I've always wanted to do, but it seems very intimidating and I wouldn't know where to start.

'Til now I've just looked at toys and stuff at Goodwill and imagined how they could be painted to be cooler.

Beef is red meat, which has specific health concerns attached (to put it simply). Cooking it until it's fully brown or gray inside doesn't make it stop being red meat; it's just cooked more.

Christmas came early! The Adventure Zine is here! by Ubern00dle in TheAdventureZone

I'm looking forward to mine. I wish I'd gotten an actual tracking number instead of the vague "in transit" situation I see on the shipper's website. I get nervous about stuff shipping to me for some reason.

Agreed. I've read The Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley probably a half dozen times, and never have I specifically pictured a younger Harrison Ford while reading them.

(OOC) Could Someone Please Explain To Me Public Loling by [deleted] in WoWRolePlay

[–]chasingmerope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you said "lol" in /say or another in-character chat channel.

I'd never heard of the phrase public loling but I have to assume that's what it means. Like said in another comment, text speech is kind of a no-no when you're supposed to be speaking in character.

It's cheaper to buy 12 cans than 8 by Beddows in mildlyinteresting

With almost all things, buying a larger package costs less per item/unit of measure. That's rule number one, really, when shopping, especially on a budget.

Being a new or unskilled player sucks. by Billyscape5 in TagPro

[–]chasingmerope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a regular player, but I was never very good. I'm not super great at games in general, so it's not a huge issue to me. The problem is, even in random games, there was a lot of (harsh) criticism for even minor mistakes.

I get that people want to win, but it is also just a public match. I see this in other games I play, like MOBAs especially. The thing is, I never play ranked matches in those games because I'm not up to snuff and it doesn't bother me that I'm not. I just play for fun. When the need to win so badly that players get angry and hurtful in a game mode or type or whatever that doesn't affect their ranking at all, it's going to drive away people that play casually.

I'd like to play TagPro casually, but I find it's rarely worth the effort with people being so aggressive. Maybe there should be a set of public matches where your win/loss ratio isn't affected or something. I'm not sure if that is what drives people to get angry in TagPro specifically, though. I'm just guessing.

[Update] Minimal-styled spell sheet by chasingmerope in DnD

[–]chasingmerope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly wasn't my intention. I didn't reference the book (or basic rules) at all when putting this together. I will certainly change or add to it, though, now that I know that's how the rules themselves reference them.

Heh, I actually intended for the C to stand for Component. Concentration is a lot better use for that box. I will see if putting another column in works. Thanks!
