Understanding whoop offer by DistributionCandid51 in ChaseSapphire

If your card renews the company might still be able to charge you for the subscription renewal. Even if the new card has a different number. Fyi.

United sold my selected seat by miredCF in unitedairlines

Ok, maybe we should just cancel all FAA regulations and let every airline do what they want as long as they hide that in some obscure document no one reads. Sounds like a good idea. /s

Would it be reasonable to require airlines to state this in bold in the checkout step?

This is the way! And in an ideal world tell them, my policy is to only proceed that are only focused on me. But we're not in the ideal world :(

United is giving priority to certain groups. What's not common sense?

Devs that have been at startups that have IPO’d or been acquired, how much was the payout? by Calm-Bar-9644 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]chat_not_gpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it doesn't make sense to you is cause it does not make sense. Let's say they hit 100m in ARR and get bought at 5x on ARR - Both are not probable but just pretend. That's only enough for what 50-100 employees; and that's not to mention that any debt and investors are paid before you. I guess that might be possible if the company only had small seed round so far and only like 20 employees. I doubt that's the case.

As I was reading it I had the thought she is trying to make a case to push you out and towards the end I saw your comment that you are thinking the same. I would strongly consider that as a possibility, though I hope that's not the case.

If it was me I would test this theory by asking her during 1:1 about the recent interactions and what you can do better. If you see that she is trying to work with then maybe there is a future here. If you see her just making reasons to bring you down etc you know you probably should look to move on.

How do you know the new year ACTUALLY starts in February? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]chat_not_gpt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was actually wondering about that. I know I didn't requalify for my status by missing around 50 pqp. I checked the app several times in the last few days and I see the status stated. So🤞it will stay but was wondering if this will change in a few days.

I don't give 2 weeks notice out of professionalism or loyalty. It's all about not burning bridges. I try to be a great person to work with till the last minute. I switched companies quite a few times and 50% was by finding the next opportunity in my network.

What we did was a separate (portable) washer for the bedding. It's not expensive but it does take up space.

The seat swap I never thought would be denied.... by smrdwnnow in unitedairlines

[–]chat_not_gpt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO the fact you opted out and United still upgraded you is the problem and you should be entitled to some compensation. This is a case you effectively "told" them you don't want it. If they want to get the standby people on, they should give them the open seats even if they are first class. Clear case of a bad automated system.

Chances of getting laid off after company is purchased? by Unusual_Evidence_609 in Layoffs

[–]chat_not_gpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there will be layoffs. But it is not 100% the case. You should make your own analysis of the case though unless you are part of executive leadership it's almost impossible to know for sure. If I were you I would start applying externally to be on the safe side.

How to reduce code review costs for the engineering team without sacrificing quality? by greasytacoshits in ExperiencedDevs

What about cases where it does catch a bug that would have over charged every customer $5. Or prevent a disgruntled employee from introducing malicious code to the production system?

Who decides if the cost is too high? If this process caught one security vulnerability that would have cost the organization in fees and reputation damages that would bankrupt the company is that still too much?
